Architect?

can anyone recommend an architect for a domestic project? my family and our next door neighbours want to build extensions to the backs of our houses, and have decided to go for it together in terms of  the timing, getting planning permission, design and scale of the project etc.Any ideas welcome

It would be nice if this site would get a little bit less politically obsessed and more of an information exchange like the Chiswick one is. Sorry Helen - can't help on architects other than that observation.

HelenYes, a visit to the Chiswick Forum will be worth while..as putting the word ARCHITECT in the Forum Search Box will produce lots of links to previous threads.There are currently 215 people visiting the ChiswickW4 website..and the access is currently jammed to the recommended list of professional traders (under Home Improvements..off the website front page).

Hi,Do you need an architect at this stage? It's a good idea to sketch out your ideas and get up to date on your permitted development rights etc first. The council are very helpful at this stage. Doing it jointly is a great way to proceed. Do you have an idea of budget? or scale of the works? Are the houses terraced or semis?I am meeting with an architect on Thurs morning and will ask if he might be interested in more local work.Regards,Ian.

HelenIt will be worth trawling the Chiswick Forum on this subject.I recall several threads asking for recommendations about architects,and overseers..who would give advice and look after the type of project you have in mind.
