Borough Road College,Chiswick Grammar,Jim Biddle and athletics....
On hearing of the death of someone you have know in earlier years..it is amazing how ones mind becomes filled with memories. The image of that person gets lodged and lingers all day in that magical and amazing mind of ours.Today is such a day. There is news in the Brentford & Chiswick and Isleworth Times this morning of the passing of my old PE teacher at Chiswick Grammar School in the 1950's...a couple of months ago at the age of 83 years. James (Jim) Biddle was so fit, capable, strict and seemingly indestructable..that illness and death was the last thing one could imagine for him. He was the great leader and inspiration of athletes at Borough Road College in later years..and many Olympians are indebted to him. He later served on national and international committees.Several websites have Obituaries. Old Meadonians of the 50's and Borough Road College ex students will be surprised to have heard the news and will be saddened.Any local sportsmen remember Jim Biddle?Do a Google search on JIM BIDDLE and several websites will mention his passing ..and details of his life.
