Modernise the Forum?

I find this forum very interesting but the technology seems a little dated. Every other Message board and Forum allows you to scroll down and read every post. It takes a long time to click back and forward finding the new posts. Has this been raised before? Is it worth contacting the moderators?

Whilst we don't need the huge functionality of many of the message boards (nor the administrative time they take up to run) there are many message boards where, at the very least, you can have the whole thread on a page.I know I don't use this forum as much as others because it's too slow (even with broadband). I would like to be able to scroll through the posts without having to click between each one.www.beesotted.com/ is a good example of a simple message board.

Personally, I like the way this Forum works. If you don't like the topic, don't click on it. From other forums I have visited it is much more complicated to follow a thread.

As a relatively late convert to the internet and discussion boards in general I would make that the observation that on any forum I follow a thread becomes difficult to follow when it gets very long and I don't think that this is something you can design out. I find this the easiest board to use of any that I follow if I am actively participating but it doesn't work so well if I want to catch up on threads that I haven't contributed to. If there are going to be changes I am suspicious of the word 'modernise' which in this context I feel would mean lots of unnecessary bells and whistles which detract from other boards I visit and make them very confusing. The simplicity of this board is a positive and I think that it would be dangerous to move away from that even if it means missing out on some new features.

justine - i totally agree with you. it actually stops me reading the whole thread. more so on the chiswick site where they are sometimes really long. it would be great if you could open it and all the posts were all there. i have broadband and its still a pain. lets hope they listen to you.

Please don't change the way this forum or the other neighbourhood net fora work. Just get yourself onto broadband and you will find everything much quicker. Plus ... it's taken me a long time to get the hang of this one!

The people who would know the answer might not be around until then.Best wishes "I then answered them recommending 12free forums and Network 54 which are both free sites providing forums of a more modern nature.

Justin, what was the mods response? I too feel that this forum lacks functionality compared to other similar fora such as that on the  Griffin Park Grapevine (www.griffinpark.org)
