Anyone local going to the World Cup?

My Wife and I fly out to Munich on Thursday to watch the opening game Germany v Costa Rica on Friday evening,and the following morning fly up to Frankfurt to watch the England v Paraguay match and back to Munich that evening.Fly home on the Sunday and the I am back to Germany on either the 15th for the Trinidad+Tobago game or the 20th for the Sweden game depending on what tickets we get allocated.

Not sure what up with Owen. he seems to have lost a yard of pace. Crouch was ok today. still find his style troubling.

Agreed Paul, thought PC played very well against Paraguay, despite a paucity of service and support from midfield or the wings.He is better than he looks(bit like a new born foal !) and has a 'deceptively deft touch for a big man'as the saying goes.England always play well with the big man /little man combo(providing they get the ball that is)so lets hope Owen recovers some sharpness and is firing on all cylinders against T&T.

Not quite Paul, although QPR, oh dear. Seems we almost got Holloway as our manager. We've got an ex Fulham man instead.My worry with Crouch is that he seems to lack pace and is rather slow in the box if the ball is played on the ground. Although with Beckhams long balls we are always in with a chance to score off of crouch's head.

The Amateur Football Combination is mainly for London Old Boys  football teams across the whole of Greater London. There are 35 leagues..repeat 35 leagues! consisting of nearly 400 teams!It must be the largest in Europe.The top team again this year...having overtaken Old Hamptonians at the last breathe...is a team in this Borough. Indeed in Brentford and Chiswick. Do you know who it is?PS: This team also won the Senior Cup too!!Any ideas?

Yes,  Hounslow Town in the FA Amateur Cup in 1962.They drew 1-1 against Crook Town and yes there was a replay!In the following season..in the 1st Round..Hounslow scored 10 goals. Do you know who against?

Can you believe that the Captain of a cricket team that I played for in Chiswick..Denis Follows...became the FA Secretary ...and in 1966 he organised the World Cup...when we won at Wembley!Our Brentford & Chiswick have worked hard over the years!!He had been a Trades Union leader too (BALPA).  In later years he became Chairman of the British Olympic Association..at the time of the 1980 Games in Moscow.Old Meads cricketers are now called Chiswick and Latymer.

What makes you think Alan Keen isn't a true fan. When I lived in Brook Rd South I would chat with him about football when he went into the Griffin.He used to work for one of the North-East teams.Good luck to him on this one.

It would seem that Alan Keen is going as a guest of McDonalds again? He went of course as their guest to Portugal in 2004 but I wonder if he is aware that the true fans who followed England to all the qualifying games were only allocated 8% of each stadiums capacity where England are playing?The rest of course were kept for sponsers and MP`s !!

Bon voyage Paul and Shirley.  It should be a really exciting trip..even to see the style of some of the stadiums!So..Germany v Costa Rica at Munich...at a venue which reminds one of perhaps....Paddington Station!
