Deprived of crime ?
Looking at the BBC reporthttp://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/5036308.stm on "Air pollution in parts of London exceeds EU targets by up to 50% and is endangering health, a study suggests."I couldn't believe that Hounslow wasn't listed and looked for the source of the data.Eventually the trail lead back to a site :http://www.neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk/dissemination/where I was sidetracked to see what neighbourhood I belonged to and what statistics it might have.Apparently lots !Included in the bog of information were measures of deprivation and I was surprised to find that my bit of Syon ward (Lower Layer Super Output Area Hounslow 014D)found itself ranked no 357 out of 32482 on the list of most deprived areas for crime.Syon ward seemed to be made of six LSOA's and all the others were much more middle range (014E 11768, 014C 4622, 006E 4156, 003E 3777, 006D 13486 - all out of the total number of 32482 LSOA's in the country). Unfortunately I was unable to find easily whether this was a good thing or a bad one. Am I in an area with the top 1% worst crime or least crime ?Or does the computer make the figures up by itself ?Still the ward maps were excellent !Tim
