Today's result ....what do you reckon?

I reckon(though I hope desperately that we win)that it will be a 1-1 draw.

Actually you're right Matt.  With hindsight I don't think he was booked, just penalised as you say.  Still seemed bizarre though, six-second rule notwithstanding.  It would have suited us if he'd held onto it for the rest of the match.

It was a strange one. The 'six second rule' - which says, unsurprisingly, that the keeper must release the ball no more than six seconds after taking control of it in his hands - is hardly ever observed. (It replaced the 'four step rule, which probably needs no explanation). It's an indirect free kick - was he booked as well? It's not usual for that to happen. Anyway, we should have enough to beat Trinidad + Tobago, but we are going to need more in the tank to go much furthur.

Ok first half, secod half terrible. Owen looked short of match fitness, He seemed to be a yard behind the pace.Sweden drawing 0-0 was a great result for England.Very tired now.

"Definite latin -american bias from the ref,don't you think..."That said, I think it was the first time I've ever seen a goalkeeper booked for time-wasting fifteen minutes into a game - when his own side was 1-0 down!

Although England faded a bit in the second half the result was the important thing today, especially as Sweden could only manage a draw against Trinidad and Tobago. The only thing I could not understand was Sven's decisision to take off Owen so soon in the second half.

Distinct lack of pundits today...good result against the 12 men of Paraguay I thought. Definite latin -american bias from the ref,don't you think...
