JustinI've no interest in trying to work your opinions into any kind of agenda, but you do have a short memory.  Let me direct you to the "Isleworth TW7.com" thread launched by James de Vivenot on 1st March 2006.On 12th March 2006 one Carol Stanley asked: "who could not honestly say that this forum has been a better place since the little Hitlers have been sent packing? As an occasional poster who will now be more regular (my italics) I think we owe these two gentlemen an enormous debt of gratitude. This is a Brentford forum for Brentford issues, we don't have an ICP in Brentford and they and there ideas should not be taking up valuable bandwidth on this site."Looking back through the thread, the "two gentlemen" in question were quite clearly Dan Evans and Paul Corcoran.  Now, I've no idea whether either of these gentlemen knows Ms. Stanley or whether her endorsement was received by them with gratitude or with embarrassment, but neither considered it necessary to place any distance between themselves and the comments of their outspoken admirer.Needless to say Carol Stanley has not reappeared on this forum despite her promise, and for that matter Paul Corcoran has been back rarely if at all either.Ms. Stanley's comments were followed up on 14th March 2006 by one Aaron Walter, another virgin poster, who delivered himself of the interesting view that: "Dan and Carol are to be congratulated for sticking to their guns and pursuing this and judging from the lack of posts from the TW7 gang lately it seems to be working."Again, the absence of any kind of refutation would seem to suggest that Dan was not unsympathetic to Mr. Walter's interpretation of his position. The following day an Antony Mardough appeared on the forum for the first time to ask: "has it escaped the notice of some people that this forums got a record numb er of new people signed up since the dreary Isleworth gang packed up and went! I have found it uterly frustrating sitting watching this forum going round and round the same old circles and I'm glad someone finally stood up and did something about it. Lets us all support it now and make it work as it was supposed to work".Mr. Mardough's level of support for this forum since posting these comments has of course been quite breathtaking.Paul Corcoran next contributed to the same thread two days later, and Dan Evans nine days later.  Neither availed themselves of the opportunity to disassociate themselves from the views of these three people, two of whom had cited them in their postings. You imply that it would be indicative of some kind of paranoia on my part to suggest that the authors of contributions such as these were bogus.  And yet you yourself refer in your previous paragraph to "obviously bogus posters".  I would be interested to know by what criteria you differentiate between an obvious bogus poster and one who is "kosher".  The only difference I can see between the three examples mentioned and William E. Hughes are that the latter has been able to sustain his campaign of negative abuse for longer.Your personal opinion of George Burrell is respected, although speaking as one who actually knows the man it isn't shared.  However, on the basis of what has appeared above from certain of the usual suspects were my expectations that those who have demonstrated an obvious hostility to the presence of Isleworth residents on this forum would now become the most outspoken critics of the new venture really that wide of the mark?

My observation is that the moderators are quick to respond to complaints. I've only complained once - ironically when someone was having a go at you claiming you had met Nick Griffin in a pub. I was becoming hacked off with what was a spate of obviously bogus posters - mainly attacking you. I think the name was Antony Norris in this instance. (Incidentally your bete noir Dan also gave this bloke an earful at the time). I got a very nice response to my e-mail from thanking me for letting them know and the post disappeared soon after with nothing more heard from the author but no specifics from the moderators. You seem convinced that some other posters aren't genuine but I don't see what grounds you have for this other than you can't track down their address and they are often critical of you. This does come across as slightly sinister on your part although I'm sure you don't mean it to be. As Jim Lawes pointed out William or Bill Hughes used to be an active poster on another forum. I don't warm to the bloke personally as his only mode appears to be snide but he seems kosher enough. There also appears to be a bit of myth making going on about some people not liking Isleworth residents posting here. The only person who said that explicitly was Kevin Farnan who I think retracted it later. Some, probably me included, expressed exasperation at the pettiness of Isleworth based politics which at one point dominated this forum. Thankfully no more because it seems to have broadened out in participation terms. I think you are misrepresenting what people have said quite significantly but if you can find specific examples of where people actually did say that Isleworth-based posters should post here rather than some specific Isleworth based posters should behave a bit better then I would stand corrected. The comments I made about the new forum were simply based on the fact that I don't like the bloke who is running it and that is because he gave me a volley of abuse with no provocation on my part. You can try and work that into some sort of agenda if you like but it really is just as simple as that.

Would somebody kindly explain about the new web site titled TW7.com.Jim has asked for an explanation of what had happened to the URL  - and for a pleasant introduction to launch what the website is endeavouring to do and achieve. He is also seeking clarification of misunderstandings, early mystery postings, and lewd jokes and pictures which don't in his view convey a healthy outlook. He is seeking reassurance that these blips will be just that and that the focus for the site will be as a community vehicle for information and sensible discussion.Would you also please clarify who the site is aimed at.  The main argument previously on this site was that TW8 should be exclusive to that area - so will the same argument be applied to the new site?  Does TW7 mean – the Isleworth Ward TW7?  -  or the Isleworth Postal District TW7?  The latter twice the size of the former by including Osterley and Spring Grove?A natural link with might have been keeping Chiswick, Brentford, and Isleworth within the neat package of the parliamentary constituency...together with the appropriateness of Brentford TW8 being twinned with Isleworth TW7 on the Area Committee.Linking up with the Richmond websites in that case would be cobblers. How will the site be publicised to allow other interested bodies such as the Isleworth Society, the Churches, the Shops and Professionals, the Baroque Society, the Duke, Sky TV and Harrods, all those sports clubs, the Asian Sikh Community and the developers, the College, Campion House, Campaigners, the Thornbury Road bookshop and its customers, Gillettes and its Staff website to be linked? There's so much that could be achieved. That's why he is concerned about its launch activity, the Forum layout, Topic headings, message etiquette, and the direction it might or might not be heading.

In my view, its a pity that the announcement of the new website at the top of this thread wasn't announced more professionally and informatively.  Simple questions to the announcer produced  shock, horror and "I don't know mate"Had there been a competant explanation of what had happened to the URL at the beginning,a pleasant introduction and launch of what the website was endeavouring to do and achieve...it might have had better lift off..and certainly  many more good wishes.  Misunderstandings, early mystery postings, and lewd jokes and pictures didn't in my view convey a healthy outlook. And that is a worry. It's not clear if the Website is aimed to represent the Isleworth Ward TW7..or the Isleworth Postal District TW7...the later twice the size of the former by including Osterley and Spring Grove.A natural link with Neighbournet would have been a best bet..keeping Chiswick, Brentford, and Isleworth within the neat package of the parliamentary constituency...together with the appropriateness of Brentford TW8 being twinned with Isleworth TW7 on the Area Committee.Linking up with the Richmond websites may have been an odd direction to pursue.Isleworth TW7 at present stands alone.  It's a new feeling having a Community website closer to ones own doorstep..and I've have had a dabble. Will the Isleworth Society join in, the Churches, the Shops and Professionals, the Baroque Society, the Duke, Sky TV and Harrods, all those sports clubs, the Asian Sikh Community and the developers, the College, Campion House, Campaigners, the Thornbury Road bookshop and its customers, Gillettes and its Staff website to be linked?.. There's so much that could be achieved. That's why I am concerned about its launch activity, the Forum layout, Topic headings, message etiquette, and the direction it might or might not be heading.I wish George well..and will help him give it a try. Perhaps there's more to Isleworth than meets the eye. But I think dick heads or Uncle Bill whiners should be kicked off and barred. They have nothing to contribute..and are a waste of time.Already we have two (apparently) Peter Penquins..one complaining of another posting in his name, we have a flottila of people representing "Ivytag", two accounts suspended, and I'm wondering if I should just call myself Kit Kat or PO Box 1 and done with.

At further risk of being accused of cyber stalking or promoting a secret political agenda I'd like to make some comments on this matter. The recent tragic case of Marcus Macfarlane is a really powerful argument for the value of professionally run community web sites like this one. Even if only a few hundred people become aware of the search for the maroon Renault Laguna as a result of the coverage it increases the chances of it being found and justice for the young man's family.Even if the person you had chosen to run the site was a well-liked, balanced individual with superb business acumen it isn't likely that it would have the cross community appeal that would make it a genuinely valuable asset to the community. A news driven content rich site isn't really something that an individual can hope to do successfully. As you offered the site to the company that runs BrentfordTW8.com and they didn't have the courtesy to respond to your e-mail then that door, regrettably, seems to have closed. This however wasn't the only possible option. The Online Communities group run a site in neighbouring Twickenham. They are a non-commercial network and would have seemed to be an ideal group to take over the site. Also it seems strange that no attempt was made to attract indications of interest from other residents or businesses in Isleworth who may have been better qualified.  Keeping it in-house as you have done looks a lot like the cronyism you always used to accuse the last Council of.
