Trains strikes and World Cup
Was chatting to a member of the station staff on the way back from work yesterday. I commented that the industrial action last week didn't seem to have had much affect and asked should I expect the same this week. He said don't worry about today (he was right) but Thursday would be a problem. The turnout is apparently going to be much higher because of the England Trinidad game. He then told me to watch out for disruption on the following Tuesday when the signal workers are going on strike. By a truly stunning coincidence this is the day of the England vs. Sweden match. If you are hoping to bunk of work early to watch either of these games it is probably a good idea to have an alternative route or stay near your work.
