I asked this guy a few minutes ago why he was using a board - and he said because if he doesn't it smashes the paving slab.… …  :)He then went on to explain how he has to be careful of where he places (parks) the lorry and how he puts a board down to protect the pavement and said I could take a photo of the foot and board and invited me to take another photograph a few minutes later when he had raised the foot.… …  :)  :)  :)  Vanessa, this is all we need - the drivers trained to be careful and to work in a particular way - all delivery companies should be registered to work in the Borough - and if they get caught out - the understanding that they will lose their licence to work in the whole Borough should improve the way they drive and park their lorries.  Could also designate the size of lorries using a particular area some of the really enormous ones have only a few bags of cement on the back and they could easily use a smaller lorry or make two trips.I also would like the named person allocated to look after an area - to wander on foot through their area of responsibility on a regular walkabout talking to the developers, builders and homeowners.  The day trip out from Fortress Civic Centre by officials should be a regular feature of their job.The system is set up only to respond after the event and relies on a catching people out, rather then an education of how Hounslow want the developers to work.At the moment the damage is significant as it is not clear how Hounslow does want them to work.IMHO – of course.
