Ann, like you I am frustrated that I have'nt been able to get in touch with some of my old friends from my years growing up in Brentford and Chiswick. My maiden name was Jones, and I attended Lionel Road School, and Chiswick County or as it is known now as Chiswick Community. I worked at Thompson and Norris on the Great West Road, Alfa-Laval, and the Gramophone Co. in Hayes. I remember the Brentford Library, Brentford Swimming Pool, St George's Church, The Half Acre, The old Queen's cinema, commonly known to us kids, as the Bug Hutch. The Eel and Pie Shop, and somewhere in Brentford High Street a shop that sold horse meat. I used to go there to buy horse meat for our dog. This was during the war years, I hope that my Mother did not serve the horse meat to us I also was a Girl Guide but my memory does not go far enough for me to remember the name of the group. I know that I was in the Kingfisher Patrol, and I never did learn the Morse Code well enough to signal messages with a flag.
