ICSF meeting

Please can I remind everyone that the next Isleworth Crime and Safety Forum meeting is this Monday 24th July at 7pm at the Public Hall Church St Old Isleworth.Come along and discuss local Crime and safety issues in the presence of Local Councillors and our SNT.ALL WELCOME (Refreshments provided)

"Simon failed to answer clearly the question asked..and not for the first time caused chaos and misunderstandings..and a shambles.I had a similar experience recently when I was asking straightforward questions in the new Isleworth TW7 website..which is really George's Blog.  My messages for information were badly answered, incomplete, and finally erased by the Moderator..who was updating his system. Simon resorted to booing me for some reason..and I gave up making any progress there.If you visit the TW7 Forum today..you will find that dear Simon has caused upsets again..with his usual messages and spellings..causing misunderstanding..etc etc and falling out with George over Forum activities etc etc. Basically people are keeping away from that new site...although perhaps looking in to see if there is any hope for the future."This is because I am new to the ICSF...All i was doing was advertising Mondays Meeting.Tom asked questions in which i TRIED to answer I appologise that I am not as Clever as you are Jim.I would love to have a meeting with you so we can talk face to face so i can find out what your problem is with me?I recently saw on Tw7 you wre attacking George yourself for the way he set up Tw7 so calling the Kettle Black there a?And not to mention people on here you have critizised.

Jim - I am afraid I was looking for misgivings within the question as well, sorry about that.  I don't think you should condemn Simon for his replies - I was quite pleased that it hadn't gone off into a spat.  As far as TW7 goes - yes it should be a well run site serving the locality - but I was put off at even taking a peek because of some repeated swearing quoted on this site from the TW7 site - and now you have confirmed the situation.

Phil my feelings exactly as some here who know me Paul and david will know we have worked hard to make the icsf a worthwhile group and as such tom Jim and anyone else who has a sincere  interest in crime and safety issues in our area you are always welcome

JimIf anything I think it was my last posting, more than any other, which had a slightly exasperated tone to it but absolutely no offence was intended to Tom in making it.  I know Tom personally - he is a respected local activist and on top of that a really nice guy.  However I couldn't understand quite what he was driving at by pressing on with the subject of the ICSF's status or legality, which was a source of some frustration.However long it has taken us to get there, I hope Tom now feels he has his answer.  I hope even more that he will have the time to come along on Monday and take a look for himself.  Who knows, I may even buy the man a pint - and you too, if you're around Jim!

For whatever my opinion is worth..I feel that Tom Beaton hasbeen unsatisfactorily treated.In my view,he was asking a perfectly simple question about the constitution and make up of an organisation called the ICSF...and, furthermore, many readers may not be aware of what ICSF stands for. Is a local organisation/group that obviously does good work in the Isleworth ward.Tom was also asking about the hiring situation at the Public Hall in South Street, Isleworth etc etc.Although, Tom may have had a motive for his question, (indeed is he not a member of the Isleworth Baroque..who held an opera there recently?)..he was just looking for plain straightforward facts.Thank goodness that Phil Andrews and Paul Fisher came to the rescue with well written, and informative replies.I feel that Simon failed to answer clearly the question asked..and not for the first time caused chaos and misunderstandings..and a shambles.I had a similar experience recently when I was asking straightforward questions in the new Isleworth TW7 website..which is really George's Blog.  My messages for information were badly answered, incomplete, and finally erased by the Moderator..who was updating his system. Tom,When I was the secretary of the ICSF a couple of years ago,I did register the group with the Hounslow Council Voluntary Sector and although the details do need a little updating the ICSF is still listed and I still receive newsletters from them.Although I am no longer on their committee due to other commitments I am still a staunch supporter both as a local Councillor and also a resident.The brief details if you wished to see them are in the Council website Voluntary Sector Directory at http://www.hounslow.gov.uk/index/az_services/voluntary_sector_az/vs_organisations.htm

At the outset I just wanted if to know if this group has any formal status.  Why couldn't you say that it doesn't, but still manages to do what you regard as a valuable and useful job.  We only got into the subsequent tortuous discussion because you all started making up fanciful replies.  I take exception to the suggestion that I am nit-picking when it is you lot who have been giving grossly misleading answers that only generated more questions.I hope your meeting goes well.

TomI really don't understand where you are going with all this.  Why should anybody be in a hole?The ICSF is an excellent forum run by local people with the full co-operation of police, local traders, The Isleworth Society, ward councillors and a host of other agencies within the community.A couple of years back there was a lot of pressure for the forum to be closed, with the council withdrawing any co-operation and also placing pressure on the police not to take part.  At the time I argued that with the amount of goodwill which existed for the forum within the community itself it did not need "official" recognition and should just carry in regardless, which indeed it did.Now that we have a new administration which does not fear genuine resident participation I am perfectly happy to engage with the ICSF in my new capacity as Executive Lead Member for Community Safety, as well as to continue to take part in its work both as a local resident and as a ward councillor.I don't really know what else you want to satisfy you of its legitimacy.  Are you wanting somebody to produce a certificate or something?Like Simon says, the best way you could get a feel for the forum and what it does would be to come along on Monday.  You would be most welcome.

This is getting silly.  The post I responded to said:"the ICSF weas granted official status approx 18 months ago by Hounslow council"That just doesn't square with your claim now that it relates to some sort of recognition that Phil Andrews has granted it since he became a member of the Executive.And I thought this was going to be simple.Perhaps you (or one of you, whoever you all are) could answer two questions.  First, what was it that happened "approx 18 months ago", or was that claim just a slip of the keyboard?Second, what do you mean by saying Phil Andrews "recognises the ICSF as his capacity of Head of Housing"?  Is this some sort of formal process that has been recorded in the official decisions of the Council?  Or does it mean that he has kindly suggested in a quick phone call earlier today that you can say something like that to help you out of a hole?

No Cllr Andrews said he recognises the ICSF as his capacity of Head of Housing within the New administration at Hounslow Council.Also the ICSF has never been in the Hounslow Homes Directory but I think it deserves to be..

You say that the ICSF was "granted official status" by Hounslow Council.  That sounds very impressive.  I take it you mean more than that they included it in a directory of local organisations.  Please could you elaborate?(Look on the bright side - all this publicity should mean you get a bumper attendance on Monday!)

Just to answer some questionsthe ICSF weas granted official status approx 18 months ago by Hounslow councilIt does have articles of associationas a recognised community group it has achieved much for the benefit of the local community over the last 3 yearsthe police are represented at all the meetings.some achievements are  cctv cameras in south street traffic calming to mention a fewIt is non Political and is welcome to any person from the community there is not a charge for entry but there is a tea break mid meeting and the proceeds are used to help fund the hire of the hall.the hall is available for hire by anyonethe meetings take place in the town hall south street every two months

Hi MikeI only became a member a few months ago but if i am correct, you become a member at the AGM which the ICSF has just had.You get nominated by someone or yourself to go on to the committee then its put to a Vote from ALL the residents in the Room.Hope this helps

Simon, I think what Tom is looking for are the 'Articles of Association' of the group. This would describe how the group is constructed, how officers are chosen and how people become members. The secretary of the group is the person who should have a copy.

That's a good helpful reply Phil..as always.People were perhaps wondering how the ICSF evolved and you spelt that out very clearly. I believe that the Police have other informal meetings around the Borough...for example at Haverfield etc. It's advertised in the Brentford, Chiswick and Isleworth Times.In addition the brentford Police attend the Council's local Area Meetings on occasions and give both verbal and written reports (newsletter due?).At the top of the tree is the big meeting..open to the public..normally held at the Civic Centre..The Borough of Hounslow Community Police Consultative Group..where residents groups, and the public meet the Commander and his team..and also have a chance to meet people who deal with crime matters (Victim Support..Neighbourhood Watch..Transport Police..Probation service..and others).It's really interesting..but so few members of the public go along.

TomThe Isleworth Community Safety Forum was formed by the police in 1993 and was originally known as the Isleworth Policing Forum.  It has had its ups and downs since then but it is now a thriving community forum, recognised by the police and by the Isleworth and Syon ward councillors, one of whom (me!) is the London Borough of Hounslow's Executive Lead Member for Community Safety.It is not a quasi-judicial body and does not make decisions which have any legal status.  It is however a useful vehicle through which residents can communicate their concerns to the local police and the local police can give useful information to residents.I would echo Simon's invitation to you to come along and participate.  All local residents and traders are most welcome.

I did go to one of your previous meetings and someone else asked this very question.  It didn't get an answer then.  I presume these meetings have no more status than a group of people meeting in a bar - which may be no bad thing but why are you trying to avoid acknowledging it?

Hi JimThe ICSF meetings is for ALL residents who live in Isleworth Ward.We deal with Local Crime and Safety concerns for Isleworth and receive Crime Figures from the Local Police who attend and information from Local Councillors regarding Pub Licenses and Shop Licences reviews etc.We also talk about Graffiti and Safety Measure we are trying to get placed on Ivybridge Estate, We deal with Safety issues like Tesco Lorry's Parking along Mogden Lane and on Pavements and the Illegal selling of cars along Mogden Lane.The meeting is attended by loads of local Residents Groups such as Worton, IVYTAG and Isleworth Society.Its Chaired by David Freeman who lives in Church St, the Vice Chair is a local resident Grahame Perkins, Secretary is Local Resident and Shop Owner Andy Sibley and then you have myself who represents Ivybridge on the Committee.I hope this answers your questions and sorry for getting the Street wrong mate i think the heat is getting to me..LOL

Simon,Isn't the Public Hall (old Isleworth)...in SOUTH STREET?and not Church Street.ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooIt has a very interesting interior.ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooAs Tom has indicated, can you describe what the group is..for the benefit of new readers..so everyone is clearly aware. Is it, for example, just for the Isleworth Ward (South and Old Isleworth and including Ivybridge)?
