Myfather was in west middlesex for the past nine weeks, he is diabetic had a hypo and fell and broke his arm, for the last four weeks he was on a rehabilitation with very little rehabilitation taking place:I might add one kitchen task to my knowledge (ie to make a cup of tea),his dressing was not change for 4 weeks then only when l asked for an orthopedic doctor to be called because of the swelling of his arm by the elbow. He was told his arm was to be xrayed on the monday, this was put of until the tuesday and the put of again until the thursday when it was again cancelled indefinitely.I was informed by the occupational therapist that he was to be discharged on the 18th July depite the fact that she had not yet done a home assesment, which draws me to the conclusion that it is more about hospital targets being met before the well being of the patient.I requested that several important things were put inplace prior to him returning home one being that he had the xray's that were cancelled ,most importantly that he was shown he was able to use his oxygen supply one handed when needed. He was discharged on monday and uptil now he still has not been assesed in it,s use.The result of this being that my father has been without use of oxygen for his emphysema.Having made constant phone calls over the last 3 days too one of the hospital managers and the social services department at westmidlesex both claim that it is not there responsibilty to think that an elderly man should be left without his oxygen because of the haste to discharge him to meet goverment targets.Lynn! before your grandmother comes home make sure you and your family are happy is completly ready to be discharged I am now in the process of making an official complaint .
