Permits:  is rise justified?

I have just received a reminder from HBC that my Carers' parking permit has to be renewed at the end of the month.  Thank you!Although it says that they are issued for the applicant 'in order to maintain an independent lifestyle and remain resident at their home address' they (HBC) have raised the price from £15. to £25....almost 50%!  Cars, I note, have NOT been raised from £60.  Lucky old them!(Something I no longer possess) Does this make logical sense of their reason for issuing such permits in the first place?To me, it is just another way of  playing the bully boy and hitting those least able to fight back.  Shame on you HBC! Give us a reason WHY, please for such an increase!  My income has not risen by that amount and I am already having to cope with increased Council taxes imposed!  Give us a break, for heavens sake, and get off our backs!

Thank you for all your replies Dave, but they didn't tell me anything I didn't know - i e  it is another stitch up and noone who really COULD help has bothered to reply.  Did I expect them to?  Pigs can't fly as yet.  As usual those least able are the ones most hurt....and nobody really gives a damn!  Sad  Society we live in!

The MP is likly to agree with you how ever this was a council decision and I will make this very clear I do not speak for them before we go that merry go round, I am not sure but I think its Cllr Reids portfolio, all I am trying to do is offer some constructive help as I also think you are right.

As far as I can tell Dave, no way of getting through after 1 hr of fiddling around.  However have already written to local cllr with no result so far, and will be interested to see if MP responds.

Go to the Hounslow council web-site see which Cllrs sit on the Scrutiny Committee and write to them ask them to call it in.

BUT you can do something....get it called into scrutiny who can put the excutive of the council under the spotlight and can also recomend changes to the policy ask your Cllrs to support you in this or to call the policy in.

My understanding is that the charges were put up by the last Council (Labour controlled) - like you I would like to know why the new Council (Conservative/ICG controlled) can't rescind those increases if they think they are unfair.In that sense they are ALL to blame, and none of that helps you one iota.

This is getting far too complicated for me.  Are the Conservatives or the Labourites to blame?  I don't like politicians so am cutting myself off from such excuses.  I just want REASONS and ACTIONS, but that is too much to ask for!

It can be reversed however your much loved new adminisration the ones who enforced this decision dont want to take it to the scrutiny committee for review, you can however as a resident ring the council scrutiny committee and ask for the forms for you as a resident to call this decision in. Mind you knowing this lot they will try to stop you from doing just that so you may need to ask to see the miniutes of when this rule was stoped.

Bla Bla you have failed to answer these people, what are you going to do other than blame the old admin, sorry but this is a very tired excuse, if you had any clue about the council you would know that cuts have to be put out for consultation which you have failed to do...second is that in the budget process cuts in in the second quarter can be reversed that can happen, but since as from what I remember the Tories could not even manage the Budget scrutiny panel for such cuts and had to call in the main Scrutiny committee to help you find what you should be doing in terms of managing the budget.........DUH.....DUH

This nothing to do with CARERS paying anything....you have the wrong end of the stick!  It is the patient who needs the service who is doing the paying, and NOT the one who is earning however much or little!

I think there is a local carers group that meets every week. I couldn't find details but I'll ask around. They should be made aware of this and then they could lobby the Council. Although some people may dismiss the amount of money involved as not being particularly significant don't forget that carers generally are not well paid. It is also demoralising for them to be targeted in this way. Not all carers are paid but are family members who take time off work to care for someone. The measure shows the Council to be uncaring and small minded.

I have to agree with Vanessa on this one, this should of been discussed at area committee before implementation the way to possibly challenge this decision would be via the Scrutiny Committee but seems none of the new administration are being a bit shy of even doing this.

I think Lois is asking for help with this issue and whether any of the Cllrs would give some sort of explanation other than to find excuses for doing nothing, I think she feels very strongly on the issue and so do a lot of others on the Chiswick site, is there anyone who could give her some support.
