Break up of BAA?

British Airways have joined with Ryanair calling for the break-up of BAA's monopoly especially in London. I think this will gather momentum so could the West London boroughs take control of Heathrow Airport much like Manchester City Council owns Manchester Airport? If so, then it could put brakes on any further expansion.

Apparently there was some confusion over the new consortium, but going on information I have obtained today, in my own opinion the BAA pension trust fund and my pension are no problem.

Paul it is worth checking out as a number of friends are having problems. I dont really have any knowledge of how the pensions work but a number of people are getting confused over the issue.

Another point worth remembering is that the Airport comes under Hillingdon Planning Authority so that when section 106 planning gain is applied it is Hillingdon that get the benefit to the tune of 26 million in the recent terminal 5 case. Yes and good old Hounslow got nothing, we have to put up with the flights directly over Hounslow just imagine what just a little of this money could of done for Hounslow, in what we get as a planning authority is the control of the sewage ummm nice,I have to point out in fairness BAA are trying to help regenarate a community centre that I am working with but we are still some way off getting the hall fully back up and running.

A lot of BAA pensioners need to check there pensions at the moment as they have to cash in,Thats strange, I've havent been told anything from the BAA Pension Trust.I'll give them a ring now to see whats going on.

That would be fantastic if the council was able to that as Manchester Airport bring vital investment into Manchester but sadly I do not think that will be a reality, A lot of BAA pensioners need to check there pensions at the moment as they have to cash in, I have been hearing a lot of complaints that a lot of the older pensioners are having real problems in understanding what they need to do.
