The impact of ex Cllr David Hughes(Lab) on this Forum.

These Forums (fora) become addictive in some ways...and the hope is that they are doing us some good..give us enjoyment and interest and encourage us to be better informed. On many occasions in the past this Forum has been terrifically uplifting. Don't you occasionally click onto the site and wonder what fun and interest is in store today?Agreed people have diverse interests and styles of operating.  Whilst many enjoy factual, pictorial and easy to read messages and threads..others prefer something more contentious, to get the fighting spirit going, and hopefully to activate unagitated brain cells.The arrival of Dave on this Forum causes me concern because I'm sure his prolific postings are causing regulars to switch off, debaters are  giving up, and we're being subjected to patter which is incompatible with intelligent reading.  Agreed he makes some good points sometimes ..but try to ask a question etc etc and off we go into cyberspace tosh.I'm saddened to see regular posters give up. If you put "Dave Hughes" or David Hughes" into the FORUM SEARCH box  (do Chiswick as well) you will  find a history of messages suggesting that Dave is talking twaddle.I would ask him to calm down a bit..as he is spoiling the Forum. Even though I will now consign him to my Room 101, its the sight of the Front Page TOPICS with all his scroggling messages that is a turn off.What kind of Bank Holiday weekend can the Forum look forward to?No wonder some Forum members are activing Topics lower down the pages with the n/m touch.

Political comment is fine by me. It's the lies and unfounded allegations I have trouble with.

I think banning any political comment would be counter productive to the use of the Forums.Agreed there is a lot rhetoric and rubbish on this site but in real terms at least the local councillors are lurking to give a response to some questions from residents. Losing that would be like losing the hotline to the US. It doesn’t get used all that often but when it does it can be a powerful tool.I would just request that the political blarney and point scoring is kept to a minimum. Or at least focused on real issues and real people

NeilI'm afraid he also doesn't tell the truth.On another thread he has accused me of not involving the Hounslow Federation of Tenants' and Residents' Associations (HFTRA) in the review.  He has also quoted the e-mail address of the LBH Housing Enabling Team, which he could only possibly have obtained from a story on the ICG website at http://www.communitygroup.org.uk/id2.html.Well if you read that article, as he must have done to see the e-mail address, he will have noticed the following paragraph:"As well as the five Review Panel meetings originally planned, Cllr. Andrews has added dedicated consultations with the Hounslow Federation of Tenants' and Residents' Associations, the Leaseholder Forum, the Hounslow Homes Management Board and all members of the council.  An Open Forum will also be held so that he and his fellow Panel members might hear from users who may for whatever reason be excluded from the "official" bodies which have been set up to represent them."The question therefore arises - why lie?  Why is Dave Hughes falsely claiming that the Hounslow Homes Management Review process is excluding HFTRA, and why does his party continue to allow him to spread false stories of this kind and to threaten to disrupt the review process?If you look into this really deeply, Dave's intervention in this issue asks a lot more questions than he himself has posted onto this forum.

Helen,A good idea, but I'll bet my bottom dollar within three postings some genius with a B.A. in Plain & Pearl would be dictating to all we would-be scarf knitters on where we are going wrong!Can you knit?  When did you learn?  Me, I can recall being taught to knit socks with four needles almost as clearly as 'that day in Dallas'!I only ever knitted that one pair and they would have fitted an hobbit;  like Topsy, they just grew!  I gave up right then and there.

Now that would be interesting. I've not seen any mention of knitting on here before. I finally used up my supply of knitting yarn; now I am looking for someone who would like a huge assortment of needles etc. I'll check around and see if there is a freecycle here in Portland.

Lois thats a bit dishonest now..since you wanted to raise an issue and I gave you 4 ways in which you could do something...anyway this thread is a bit same old same old if you can not debate one way then try another way to target your victim seen it seen it seen it. As for Jim when he as been given the chance to raise a topic of real intreast ie mobile library he goes all quiet.

Hi Ann and SarahHow are you both are you enjoying the Bank Holiday? Shame about the weather though a?Shivon and Josh (the kids) are here till tomm evening which is good.We are off to legoland next Saturday they have given us a FREE family pass as there registered Charity is GOSH and shivon is a patient there as you Know.Anyway have a good Bank Holiday Sarah and Ann oh and to everyone on TW8..

Well said Jim. The thing that worries me though is that there might be people out there who will believe what he says. I have asked him time and time again to back up his allegations with some evidence, not too unreasonable you would think, except all you get is a complete load of jibberish. It is high time that certain members of the Labour party accepted the fact that there is a new administration at the council and that no ammount of unfounded allegations will change that. I would even go so far as to sugest that the moderators of this forum put a stop to this sort of thing. It is totally unacceptable for people to be allowed to make accusations about people without offering up any evidence to substanciate their claims.

Hi Sarah,Weather changeable but still very warm.As for excouncillor whosit...not a hope he'd nest at "Yawn",  he is too fond of sounding off.It's amazing, he pops up almost everywhere.I am nearly at the point that I look at the threads and only read postings by certain people, which really isn't what the forums are about.  Several of our fellow posters are a real turn-off for me.No doubt there will be an immediate riposte that I too am in that category...hope not.

Jim and Vanessa,Count me in...when chaps like Dave get on a thread, why do they have to repeat and repeat and repeat their twaddle?If I make a statement and receive a put-down, I don't come back and argue the point.  It's a waste of time and so totally boring for all the other posters.We can't all agree all the time, so have your say and leave it at that.  If Dave is right about the council houses, it will all be proved eventually, but if he is talking rubbish itshould be proved at this upcoming meeting.  No use in Dave going on and on and on about it....something like my present performance.I had to get it off my chest - Jim's right, other posters look at the forum and think, "Oh what the hell...where's the Solitaire!"Soapbox now returned to the cupboard.

Jim I have to agree with you - I just got totally lost on the last topic, and I still haven't a clue if there is even the suggestion of a threat that Hounslow Homes is going to be usurped and the housing stock threatened in anyway. Whilst not wanting to appear parochial and acknowledging that these forums are for people from all over - I do wonder what the fascination is with this end of the borough for David. After all he lives in Bedfont and also represented that area. Sometimes I think people find it hard to move on and being married to a sitting councillor probably makes that even harder, I just want clarity so that I can understand what the point is that David is trying to make if he has to post here.
