Fountain Centre

Popped across the border from Ealing to Brentford today to go swimming in the Fountain Centre.But no wave machine, no slide and only the leisure pool was open! What is going on?

A new number came my way this week  The site manager is  Chris Jones at the  Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre on 0845 456 2980.  Why don't you address your questions and concerns to him?

Haven't been to Chiswick New Pool for a long time but I don't remember slides - it's not very big. One problem with it was that there was no shallow end as such so that it was unsuitable for less confident child swimmers.

Yes, the stupid lanes pool is my primary reason for not going there. Do they still do basketball "classes"?

Actually u share the same showers also..there are a few changing rooms you can use but most of them are full.

Both sexes are only allowed in the locker areas - although some people do from time to time get confused and walk out naked into the main area!The Fountains was clearly designed in an era of cheap energy with its high glass ceilings and it must cost a fortune to run. Plus some idiot decided to make the lanes pool all shallow end. The energy bill probably absorbs much of its budget meaning it doesn't get cleaned enough. There are periodic rumours of its closure and the current neglect mght indicate that there are some truth to these rumours.

I have always found fountain quite dirty but to be honest it's the public that make it that way. However the odd purge would not go amiss - steam cleaning the showers, walk ways etc. And I agree about Isleworth - always SO cold!Feltham sounds nice - I might check that out - do you have details?

Ive been several times on the weekend with my kids and I found it terrible.The Slide was Closed and I was told it was closed for over a month and would re open in 2wks that was a month ago, the waves worked though every 30mins.I had several problems with Staff a couple young girls about 17 they were VERY rude and picked on kids to much.Also I didn't like the Fact that both sexes had to use the same Changing and shower Rooms.The other CIP pool I think is worse is the one in Isleworth.The water is Freezing, they have doors open and its really cold and it really does need a major refurbishment.The best pool to go to is in Feltham its warm, friendly staff, clean and Nice and has slides more pools etc...

I suppose I did go at 2.00 in the afternoon, and maybe that is considered school time (even though most schools are not back yet).I did spot some building work going on though above the slide, so perhaps the roof is being repaired. The whole place is looking a little shabby though, it's never been that clean but I thought it looked a bit more run down that usual - a shame as it's in a prime position has so much to offer.

I think there has to be a certain number of staff on duty for the wave machine to operate and the slide to be open. Maybe you were there in off-peak hours or maybe there were staff absent. It is a slightly short-sighted policy because the slide is a big attraction for kids but it gets really crowded and huge queues develop in the limited hours that it opens. So sometimes we don't go because the slide won't be open and sometimes we don't go because it will be too busy.
