Cheery letter from British Gas

Just received our gas bill, along with the message that they have reviewed our monthly gas payment - they suggest that it goes up from £49.50 a month to £82.00.:-(

""I see a lot of "cuffing it" in the stores these days...""Audrey,You mean wiping their noses on their sleeve? !!  Hope that doesn't arrive again over here....currently spitting is bad enough!Regarding gas pricing and providers..I follow Richard Jenning's choice..Powergen. If he's happy with them so am I.But I must cut reduce my energy usage. Neighbours are installing more Solar Panels to save on the bills. Good idea?

It's frightening.How are us oldies expected to cope with these high charges. Must turn down the heat..and switch off the CH when I go out.So, before you close the front door..its..Have I got my keysHave I got my walletHave I got my phoneHave I got a hankieHave I got the cameraHave I locked all the windowsHave I locked the patio doorsHave I put the alarm onHave I switched the CH off...etc etc..Now I can't remember when I was going!!

Funnily enough I had the same sort of thing from Southern Electric - from £60 per month to £83! And yes the Winter Fuel Payment is due to people who are 60 prior to some date this month.

try going ontouswitch.comto do a comparison. I am in the process of switching to (can't actually remember thinks its NPower) but the deals seem to change almost daily.  If it doesn't work out cheaper I will change again.  You can do it in a few moments on line although it does take about 4 weeks to change the actual supplier.  With whoever it is I am changing to I get TESCO points as well or is it Nectar - I am definitely confused.

Mind has yet to arrive.  Thanks for preparing me for the shock, Sarah!  Have, hoaever, received a questionaire about how I can save on my bills.........by changing house,  turning off the gas altogether - the only real options!  At this rate the pensioners £200 from HM Government looks as if it won't go far!  IF, of course, it is given out this year!
