Another New Website

Has anyone else come across the (unintentionally) hilarious new website that has just been created by the New Labour Party in Brentford & Isleworth?It is at: www.bandi.labour.co.ukEvery page simply oozes desperation - and it has clearly been hastily set up to try and save poor Ann Keen from the electoral hammering that the rest of her party suffered in the May Council elections.What is most striking is the absolutely appalling grammar and spelling - ironic as it comes from the mob who gave us Education, Education, Education - and the reports of their recent meetings and activities read like a Ricky Gervais comedy, except I think that they're trying to be taken seriously!An interesting web site really isn't that hard to set up these days, but our comrades in Brentford & Isleworth have sadly failed yet again.And who came up with the catchy name BANDI?

I would like to join Jim's campaign to bring back Bandi - the Labour Party's missing website.The appalling language and grammar is the electronic equivalent of John Prescott's speeches and I can't wait for it to return to brighten up the political landscape in brentford.BRING BACK BANDI !

I did wonder about "bandi".  I originally thought it was a misspelling of "bandy", possibly a subconscious comment on the type of content we can expect.  However, I think it is probably "B and I", as in "Brentford and Isleworth".I hope that when it does appear it has an interactive forum.  The original (pre-porn) Hounslow Labour site had one, but David Hughes removed it after a week or two when it began to attract contributions from non-Party types.  The Lib Dem forum of a few years back was discontinued, the Tories never had one, and the ICG one has become largely superfluous with the advent of IsleworthTW7.com.The previous Labour site brought us news from as far away as "Osterly", "Handworth" and "Feltam".  It is sorely missed.

www.bandi.labour.co.ukAny news yet?  Can't wait to see what you've all written!I saw the original front page article praising the local Labour Party's effort for launching the original Farmers' Market. Fair enough.Then there was the Press Officer's job description. He was to bombard the local press with criticism of any slight under-performance by the current administration  even though they are busy unravelling the semi-secret activities of their predecessors. Well that had already started with that Mrs Keen's outburst in Parliament, letters written to the BC&I Times supposedly by locals ..but more likely drafted by others! They should surely be helping the new administration not hindering it! But it was the really appalling spelling that caught the eye. It was beyond anything you could imagine! Next time something like that appears..print it out straight-away!What's happened to ex-Cllr Hughes. Has he been silenced?What about that other Hughes chap..what happened to him.Who was he..really?

Not really for me to say, but Matt at Media is a good move IMHO as he lacks the arrogance which many have come to associate the local Labour Party with and presents an agreeable image.  I often find myself reflecting over how things might be different with somebody like him at the helm.Corinna is an "auld hand" as my friend George would say but she needs to brush up on her spelling if she's going to be typing out all those minutes ( :o) )and Seema...well I think her and Alan should be selected as permanent local election candidates in wards in which the ICG has as interest.David Hughes should continue to moderate the party website and as for Campaigns, yes Alan every time ......... please!!

Why does party affiliation have to be aligned by class? Nothing illustrates better the reason why society will not collectively improve whilst people are shackled by their "class".

Anyway...besides the spelling..and some of the lingo.. and some of the claims..the website will be a welcome addition to the jollity of Brentford, Isleworth and Chiswick life..well maybe not Chiswick.The pictures on display needed to be "clicked" on..I noticed..so that they enlarged properly.If there is a Forum on that new website..will ex-Cllr Hughes be allowed to post freely?

I have been downstairs for an hour doing odd jobs and washing up the dishes...and thinking..how does anyone post a mature looking website in error!Having seen the appalling spelling..I mean, it was really bad...I wondered whether that man was again telling fibs..as we have so many times observed on this Forum...and elsewhere..in the past.Returning to the Forum just now..I identified my thoughts immediately in Leo's latest posting.  No wonder this Forum is renowned for political splats when fibs prevail.Thanks for drawing our attention to it Leo.I can't believe that Matt, Ruth and others would want to have anything to do with it.

The website claimed to have done a massive leaflet drop in Isleworth during August but they must have missed my house and many others!!The Isleworth and Syon news "blogs" were both completely empty and there was an appeal for anything that Labour could take the credit for in the area especially with a photo.

Leo,When the Labour Party Chairman describes his website as going “live in error” he is simply using the imaginative language that his party is so famous for.This comes from the collection of phrases such as, “a stable and orderly transition”(an apocalyptic battle between Blair and Brown),  “a flexible workforce” (you will work for pennies or get the sack) and “an ethical foreign policy (whatever the American President demands).Alan Sheerins says their web-site went “live in error”, but what he really means is “someone has made a complete balls up but we’re not going to admit it”Therefore he is being “economical with the truth”

Dear Mr Sheerins,Thank you for your kind words, but I am not convinced by your explanation for the “vanishing website”.Do you think I’m brainless?Please could you explain to me how a political party’s entire website goes “Live in Error” exactly? This was clearly an up-and-running live forum being used by you to communicate with voters, because you have been providing information about events in July and August as well as future events in October.I think everyone reading your excuse will conclude thatwww.bandi.labour.co.uk  would still be live if I hadn’t drawn your attention to the atrocious quality of virtually everything on it.Also, this website has been available for weeks – so why on earth had nobody in your organisation noticed that this illiterate tripe was being made available to anyone using the internet?When will New Labour cut out the b******t , stop treating us all like idiots and  start acting responsibly and honestly?

Only a few hours after my posting it seems that the Labour party have “pulled the plug” on their new website in Brentford and Isleworth – presumably so that no-one else can see how dreadful it is! And, Cllr Andrews, please believe me -  I’m know getting on in years, but I really didn’t imagine the whole thing, I promise!We are all familiar with their habit of “burying” bad news, but I think air brushing out a complete website does seem rather extreme.I can only imagine the feverish activity at their HQ on Chiswick High Road as they try to fix all of the inaccuracies and mistakes.It will be interesting to see if and when the website is up and running again! I saw parts of that new website today and I agree that some of the spelling was appalling...and so perhaps we should have stayed quieter for a little longer!I know that my messages are often littered with typos but what was on display earlier today was a bit of a joke...and consistent with some of the howlers and gobbledeegook that we used to see on Mrs Keen's website.  Her website still states that unemployment in Brentford exceeds 63% or something!Did you see the Webcam on the Civic Centre website of the recent Executive Committee meeting?  It looked so professionally run and Cllr Barbara Reid (Osterley and Spring Grove) looked in great form. I will always remember Cllr David Hughes (Lab) outburst on the ChiswickW4.com Forum one Saturday(?) evening last year..when he went bananas and posted some 10 new topics in CAPITAL LETTERS about his strange policital illusions.  All were deleted I believe..before Chiswickians had much chance to comment. I believe it is bonkers to have him as a website moderator!  I never read his postings these days..he's in my Room 101.

I though the local Labour website was at http://www.labourinhounslow.orgBy all accounts it will be up and running in July 2006.  David  Hughes, former Bedfont councillor, moderated the last one.  It's a porn site now - better spelling but their positions don't change as often.
