Some charity shops might be glad of hangers, but you might need to check with them first. When I donate clothes to charity shops, I often put them on hangers - this way the clothes stay looking good when they arrive at the shop (instead of crumpled in a bag) and the volunteers can put them straight up onto a rail, ready to sell and also I get rid of a few surplus hangers. If you regularly get hangers from dry cleaners how about returning them? I always take them back to mine and they seem quite happy to have them returned.
