So, what's on in Brentford this week?

...once the great County Town of Middlesex.If this messages disappears off page one in a few days without any responses..we can assume that something is wrong!Any reports or pictures of the Great Walk along the Canal?Bowling at Boston Manor Park?Cricket in lots of places?Farmers Market coming up?Jazz at the Brewery Tap several evenings a week?Hundreds playing football in Gunnersbury Park?

Thanks Dan.Then there's Linda's event in Boston Manor Park 10am till noon...and the football.Others might drift down to the riverbank!

On Sunday 1st October the volunteers within Boston Manor Park will (between 10.00 and 12.00 be taking out a number of the flower beds (100's of red and white geraniums) - do you have a home for them?  We will leave them in a pile in the car park - bring a bag or pot and help yourself - if they are still there on Monday they will be disposed of so please help us to recycle.  Also, the SPARTANS, the new football club operating from the park will be playing their first match at about the same time.Come along (you can even help us dig them up if you want!)

Across the river at Richmond there's Sir Peter Halls production of Becket quasi-official 50th anniversary "Waiting for Godot" until Sept 30th (play then moves to New Ambassadors Theatre on October 9).  I recommend it.  Oliver (whoever he may be) would enjoy the ambiguity and could provide an interpretation (wnatever that might be).

There is a coffee morning for the same charity at Brentford Dock Residents Club at the same time tomorrow.  Last year it raised 4th or 5th largest amount for the charity in London.

Not quite Brentford, but it is just on the other side of the bridge - there's a coffee morning tomorrow, Fri 29 Sep 10-12, at Annie's on Thames Road, Chiswick, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care.

Lol Oliver..you are humorous at times. Thank you for all these additional treasures you keep drawing my attention to..but there are just not enough spare hours in the week..to get around to see them all...and the Canon Ixus 500 battery keeps failing!I'm still touring round judging the Brentford Best front gardens Competition and that's a cliff hanger...taking time. In the lead so far is this entry from Boston Manor Road opposite the Police Station.Very Brentford you'll agree.Have you tried Bingo along the road in Hounslow? It's worth the bus ride. But I guess that you have highbrow cultural interests and so would perhaps be better matched with the Waterman's Art Centre..overlooking the Thames along Brentford's Riviera.Being a modern developement of the lowest order..I presume it will stay..as it's fine architecture blends in with Macdonalds across the road.Another fine modern developement looks more like the eye of a fly..and nestles in nicely with it's historic neighbours!oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooOliver can you assure us that we will have more if this?..so that we don't fall behind in the developement stakes.You promise me?oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooBy the way there's jazz at the Brewery Tap on Tuesdays!

Good news (for you anyway) Jim -- this week in brentford, not much is happening..a bit like last week and the last 12 months. I also confidently predict that not much will happen next week either...just as you like it. This said i was walking through the overhanging warehouse  on the towpath on sunday (which the dinosaurs want to preserve and turn into a waste recycling plant or some such nonsense), and i did see a fascinating patch of new rust developing...time to get the camera out Jim!
