Paul, It's a very small airport..my housekeeper says..so don't be alarmed if you think you've arrived in a little village! From the terminal building a Croatian Airways coach can take you to the bus station in the City ..from where you can get a tram to the Main Square and everywhere else. The main square is pedestrianised ..but with trams. There's a zoo opposite the Stadium..and a special park to walk around! The river is not a feature in Zabreb...it just separates the city from an area with the Soviet type flats. Go to the Old Town most of all,she suggests, ..off the main square and up the hill...lots of cafes and places to see on Tkalciceva Street. and its also a good area for people watching . Bars galore including local beers and an Irish Pub. There are viewing points above the City. The cathedral is 5 mins uphill..and an old market with traditional red umbrellas/parasols…all worth wandering around. Now she must get on with the hovering! But have a good trip! The Arsenal fans were there recently and they were well received I believe.
