No contention or argument, just a thank you to all who contribute to the forum, as an ex-Chiswickian, now living in Somerset, it is possible for me to keep up with local events, attitudes and ideas, so THANK YOU ALL

Sorry to have been slow in replying - PC went down, on all counts the answer is yes, A few names to add to the list Bill Dutton science, as was Angus Grubb and Ike Rees Derek Dury was our form master, Robbie was PE master (he smoked like a chimney) and many more,

Peter,I recall from reading the Chiswick Forum some time back that you lived off Hartington Road in W4.Do you remember Eamonn Andrews of "THIS IS YOUR LIFE" fame living nearby?  It was a large house..backing onto the River..with yellow (oxlip) shutters!Also at the School you will perhaps remember the sportsmen Stuart Way and the Agers and David Stanners...and perhaps Jock Ironside the teacher..and Ike Rees ..and Alf "the beans" Tucker?..and Mr kitchener's retirement.Air raid shelters in the School playground..still used for lessons?

Hold fire Peter..I was just testing your schooltime memories!  That was very rude of me;0)So here is part of the Rowing entry in the 1953 Magazine....I remember Keith Rushby the Cox  and you may remember Geoff Page and Ernie Finch the coachesMany teenagers from Brentford, Isleworth and Hounslow travelled by Southern Railway train to our Chiswick School in the mornings..including Phil Collins....so this message is not too inappropriate...perhaps!!Anything else I find..I'll send to you directly!

PeterSo we're going back over 50 years!!Remember the annual Chiswick Grammar School Magazines?  I looked at them the other day..checking on the Sports day when Phil Collins the pop star won the High Jump and the Hurdle events..in the 1960's.!

Hi Jim, I was at Chiswick Grammar 1947 t0 1953, possibly you came across my name as being part of the crew that won the first cup for rowing that the school won, Great to hear from you again

Cheers Peter and greetings.Glad to hear that you are still visiting these unique Forums..of which you are a part.As you know we have exchanged many messages on the Chiswick Forum during the past year or two....usually on the MEMORIES threads etc.  We recall that you went to Strand on the Green School..and then onto Chiswick Grammar.I have my old collection of the School Magazines still..in my Library..and the other month I recall seeing your name mentioned. I'll dig it out if you can give me a lead..would it have been the Sports day, Swimming Gala, School Play, Cricket, Football or poetry! and what years were you there?Semper Sursum!!
