On behalf of 1st Osterley Scouts Group, I would like to thank every one who supported us at this years bazaar. Next year it will be a week later, this is to make it easier for us to deliver the collection tickets, normally delivery of these clashes with half term. It will also mean that I can attend, as the bazaar has traditionally been on Poppy Day I have always been unable to be there.Once again thank you, we have not yet got the final figure but I am told that we have done a little better than last year.John Davies,Chairman,1st Osterley Scout Group

Lovely to meet you Jim.You caused quite a stir when the message came through that there was a gentleman asking for me - who chats to me on the internet!  I think hubby had seen you earlier and recognised you from meeting you at the river clear up in Brentford - but didn't let on  ;-)Alex hadn't recognised you when you rummaged at his part of the book stall but remembered you and described your red jumper when I said that you told me you had spoken to him earlier.Many bargains taken home today.  Alex bought a pair of designer jeans (Armani) for a pound and a real soft leather jacket for 4 more.  I bought a few trinkets to fill up the spaces left by the things I donated (sigh! couldn't resist).  We shall know the takings tomorrow.  Well worth pencilling the bazaar into your diaries for next year.

Not only did I say "Go,go,go" but I went went went!Late as always but I was surprised to see so many people there again and just masses and masses of things for sale.I spent my visit in the books and old records section and came away more than pleased with a box of old LP's..then Audio Cassettes at 10p each (Beethoven and Brahms have never been so cheap!)Following a pile of swiss rolls and tea at the Canteen section and a friendly chat with a Polish chap,I asked to meet Sarah if she was around and a runner was despatched to another part of the Bazaar. Lo and behold our first meet was arranged and occured "a man from cyberspace would like to meet you" Sarah was asked!There were books galore too. I bought a large book about Queen Mary..George V's wife..who died in 1953. I remember her..do you? Good value for 50p that book. You must pop along next year!

Yes, as part of the 6th form consortium across the borough, and also they collaborate on the school production with The Green School and can I say it's always an excellent evening out.

Still am Sarah - and for what it's worth I think the Scout movement does a very valuable job, and still has a part to play helping and educating youngsters to be self sufficient while enjoying themsleves.

Forgive me -  ;-)Bump for tomorrow.  Freecycle very kindly let me display a notice, too!Big community event set in the heart of Spring Grove and Isleworth - at the boys school.  Vanessa was Chair of Governors last time I looked!Hope to see you there!

Collection is this Saturday and the major sorting by the volunteers goes on all weekend.  Many trips are made to the dump as they carefully work their way through the bags.If you have not received a leaflet and would like to donate - the Scout hut is on the small access lane behind the Great West Road, on Church Road Isleworth.  As you turn off the A4, onto Church Road it is behind the houses which front the A4, on the left hand side.The bazaar is only one week away!

Crumbs, Jim!  It took me two attempts as I am quite out of practice – but it worked well in the end.You are right about the bazaar – it is huge and a good social occasion within the community.  I shall have to try and find out how many years it has been running.  Many people who help out come back just to do this every year and there are regular buyers and people who save their jumble up to donate it every November.  In recent years the door to door collections for Rumania etc have affected the contributions which is a shame as many of these companies are profit making and this is a local charitable organisation working with our local children.As with any event involving people there are many tales to tell.  I helped out on the shoe stall for a couple of years and there was one guy who came in wearing the scruffiest trainers, tried on a few pairs of shoes and then walked off wearing a new pair – I swear the next year he was wearing the ones he wandered off with the previous year!  …. If things are so bad that he had to steal from a jumble sale, he is welcome to them.  I put in the 50p just for the rights to the story!  ;-)

Well uploaded and posted Sarah.Noticed that the image size is about 762 x 800..so I'll try that on the Police newsletter..with which I'm struggling! ..especially when I reduce the second size to 450's etc!That August Bazaar is a very big affair I recall..with many bargains galore! I'll try and get along...and hope others do too!
