Brentford and Arcadian Thames ((BCI Times)
I've just read an excellent article entitled "A Gem of industrial heritage" which is a "community" topic under the heading "Arcadian Diary". It is written by James Debney, Coordinator of the Thames Landscape Strategy Holly Lodge Richmond Park Richmond TW10 5HS. Although I'm a mere 1 of the 10,000 (20,000 ...) residents and workers living in Brentford I strongly agree with every view expressed in the article . We live in a remarkable area both in Brentford and as part of the larger Arcadian Thames and extending this as part of the general parklands of Gunnersbury, Osterley, Syon, Boston Manor, Richmond and Kew Garden Parks as well as the key GWR, Heathrow, Hounslow, Ealing West London business community, We must safeguard our area's character and future development. The case for Brentford's riverside strategy being linked to the Thames Strategy has been made by other people in the past. But I haven't seen the case so cogently put - except for the excellent book the Arcadian Thamews (£11 or £12 at Waterstones, Richmond).
