Keep everything crossed...

For our boys down under in cricket's lion's den...the early news is not good...Giles for Panesar when Ash(great servant that he is)may only be worth 25 runs in both innings and Monty could get 5 wkts in the game.... Jones for Read,again might get a couple more runs(might not)but more likely to drop Ponting on eight and watch him go on to make a century.Hopefully the series will have one draw so England will only have to win 2 games(!) to retain the urn.It's been a long time,however, since last we did that in Australia.COME ON ENGLAND!!!!

Not sure,never have been,that the valiant Freddie is the right choice for skipper..he's one of the lads,a willing and able workhorse touched with brilliance but I'm not sure he's the right sort to motivate different types of characters to get the best out of them.

I think Ian Botham's thoughts today really hit the nail on the head, I do despair with some of the people charged with administrating our sporting institutions, booze ups and breweries spring to mind. I remember Will Carling's comments about "the old farts" that ran the RFU at the time - seems to me a sort out at the very top is what is needed all round.
