65 Bus Route: A Radio Commentary
Switching on the BBC Radio London at 13:30 I found presenter Sean Rowley was discussing notable "London" features of the 65 route from Ealing to Kingston. He was inviting phone-in contributions from the public. They'd just reached Brentford and I was disappointed to hear it being covered by a passing reference to Brentford Football Club and to the new Red Lion (which we all know has been replaced by McDonalds) "a music pub but with no notable artists playing there". And that was it.Luckily I got in on the Richmond Park bit (Kew of course had a 10 minute coverage) and at the end managed to correct some of the Brentford presentation. But as I was running on "Richmond time" I had to confine it to the new Red Lion's heritage of memories of Bo Diddley and Bobby Charles (prompt .. he wrote "See you later alligator). Pity I didn't tune in 10 minutes earlier as Sean shared a lot of my experiences and thoughts and we could have covered a lot more about Brentford.By the way did anybody know there is a special bench in RP where there are headphones for Ian Dury? Amazing isn't it?.
