Local Conservatives have chosen their next Candidate

John Barnes,Chairman of the Brentford and Isleworth Conservative Association has asked me to place a note on the Forum to say that his members have today selected Ms Mary McLeod to be their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the next General Election.That's a scoop for the Forum!Our local constituency is enormous..covering Chiswick, Gunnersbury, Brentford, Syon, Osterley, Spring Grove and Isleworth, South Hounslow..and all of Hounslow High Street..and all the way down Hanworth Road and Wellington Road South to the Powdermill Mill Lane area!I'm sure that there will be an official announcement soon...but it's good that TW8.com can be quick on the mark with the news!!

From what I have seen some of the "sensible economies" that may be forthcoming in the Council's cuts package will bring hardship to children, older people and other disadvantaged groups.

I think Vanessa's comments serve to demonstrate that although you can take the lady out of the Labour Party, it is not nearly so easy to take the Labour Party out of the lady.

The real worry Vanessa is why this wide ranging Forum is no longer seemingly the mouthpiece of the Labour Party!Maybe there were too many clangers dropped, and too many reports of dirty tricks... staining the reputation of the PartyTo have a new "all bells ringing" Labour Party website waved under our noses and then taken away for certain reasons was an indication of how things might be behind the scenes.I'm surprised that you might be concerned about a story you've heard that the Borough Council may be wanting to save  £10,000,000 out of the £500,000,000 or so  it possibly spends each year  That's a mere 2% reduction. It's news to me..and welcome too.Only the other day you were drawing our attention to seeming wastes of public money..due to spanish practices or poor organisation amongst the roadmenders in Worple Road.  More examples would be welcome if you know of any! How can you criticise efforts to save money through sensible economies. Regarding the announcement of Mary MacLeod's appointment.. and the leak to this website...don't get too worried. Let's hope that the Lib Dems stand aside at the next General Election and allow Mrs Keen to be replaced.

I'm just surprised that this Forum is the mouthpiece of the Conservative Party all of a sudden, I wouldn't get too excited just yet, there's the little matter of the possible £10m cuts in the Council budget that may well influence things by the time the next General Election rolls round.

Gosh, what a hopeless amateur correspondent I am...I didn't even manage to spell the lady's name correctly!It's Mary Macleod..and here is a picture of her plucked from cyberspace!!  It is said that Mary was born in London, worked for some 20 years in London..and lived in Chiswick for 7 years at some stage. Her CV seems formitable.
