The Convent Way Xmas Lights: Mayor's Visit on Tuesday

GOOD NEWS: THE MAYOR OF HOUNSLOW, Cllr Felicity Barwood, will be visiting Convent Way to see the lights and more..at 5.45pm on TUESDAY 12th DECEMBER 2006.   Come along to No 21 and No 29..I'll be there with others.oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooFor the past 15 years, it seems, thousands of passers by (and other making specials trips) make the journey to Convent Way to see the "WOW" Christmas decorations at No 21 and No29.They are really worth seeing...and the nearer to Christmas the more atmospheric it will all seem. Children will love the displays, the Father Christmas Grottos and more.We have so far raised £300 and this has been shared between the two families to help with their higher electricity bills. We are hoping a raise another £100-200.  Any surplus..over and above the fuel bills ..will go to the Charities that each house is collecting for.Mr and Mrs Brace at No 21 Convent Way have a collection box for the local Alzheimers Charity..which organises outings and tea-parties for Clients and Carers. Your Cheques/cash  can be sent /delivered direct to Mrs Brace at No 21. (Cheques payable to Mrs Brace or Alzheimers Society.At No 29 Mr and Mrs Groves are collecting for a Heston Charity that is hiring a giant Ambulance (Jumblulance) which takes wheelchair bound and stretcher bound clients and carers to Lourdes in France. Jim, these lights look absolutely fantastic, well done to all involved in helping to make this possible this year.  I popped by tonight and was chatting to the people who host the lights, they are truly generous and kind-spirited people, I even popped into the grotto to play with the toys (I am 35!!).....My visit tonight was a bit spur of the moment but I will be popping back with some friends to make a donation.  Well done again everybody...

We are all very grateful to Cllr Felicity Barwood, the Mayor of Hounslow, for  visiting Convent Way this evening to meet these two  families who are providing much Christmas cheer.This year's Mayor is much involved and has much experience with care groups, and social services and she so easily blended in with all the groups attending and their clients.But the wind blew.  Hair was caught in the breeze..unless you were wearing a Father Xmas hat..and knees became chilled. But the joyeous faces made it all worthwhile. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmThere were lots of people around at different times and it made for a good atmosphere. It's a busy bus route too!mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmIt didn't long to warm up though with hot mulled wine, mince pies and gorgeous sausage rolls on offer!  Don't worry I wasn't forgotten!!The picture shows the Mayor with Alan Groves..the creator from No 29.ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooThe young seemed to love it all!mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmAnd the older!!mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmWhat a joy she was.....a wonder of Mother Nature.mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmto be continued

It has been a splendid hour or so in Convent Way this evening. The scene was set! I expect 1000 have passed by already during the past week.mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmSanta's grotto at No 21..collecting funds for the Electricity Bill and the Alzheimers Charity.mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmNo 29 has a biblical scene and more.mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmFabulous!No 29 is collecting for the Across Charity..details to follow.mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmThis little Polish princess was charmed by the displays and suggests you visit as well.
