Stray dog

A black dog has been wandering up and down Swyncombe Avenue/Boston Manor Road since early this morning (Sunday).I've contacted Battersea Dog's home but they will only pick up dogs from a police station but I don't want to approach the dog to take it to the station myself.The RSPCA say that, by law, it's now the local authority's responsibility to catch stray dogs. I called Hounslow but they don't have anyone at the weekend from the animal welfare section to deal with it.The police have been very helpful and have said that they'll try to get someone around to catch the dog.It's a large black dog and looks like a sheep dog and has a white belly and little bits of white on it's paws. Does anyone know if someone has lost a dog in the area?

Jane - have you tried approaching the dog very gently with a bowl of  water?  He must be very thirsty by now. Also try posting your message a.s.a.p. on the Chiswick website - they might have some ideas as to who you should contact, and they seem much more responsive to lost dogs/cats etc. there, given that your message has been up here for more than 24 hours and has so far elicited only one response.

I've just seen the same dog on the corner of Junction Road and Little Lane (opposite Mount Carmel School).Does anyone have any suggestions as to who I should contact to rescue that poor animal?I'll put a message on the Ealing site too now that the dog has wondered away from Brentford.
