A  World Health Service?

Our NHS has become a free for all for every Tom Dick and Harry who turn up in this country. Meanwhile the people who actually contribute to its cost, are involved in a post code lottery for treatmeny, with some women requiring treatment for breast cancer being refused treatment! Recently West Middlesex Hospital had to close its doors because of the pressure, and patients sent to Ealing. Hounslow population is growing faster than ever, and West Mid has only 4 intensive care beds to serve Hounslow, Ashford has no A&E and patients are being sent to St Peters in Chertsey. People without transport are left to their own devices to try and get treatment. When will a politician have the guts to put British interests first? When we have a surplus capacity here, then by all means treat everyone regardless of whether they have contributed or not. The present system is unsustainable. Nowhere else in the world can you get free health care........unless you know different! QUOTE FROM THE TIMES NEWSPAPER January 7th 2007The information, released under the Freedom of Information Act, shows that one hospital is spending up to £1m a year on dialysis for nearly 40 non-British residents; another has placed two asylum seekers on its waiting list for transplants and a third has recovered only 2% of its costs from overseas patients. In the last financial year St George’s hospital in south London spent about £100,000 on dialysis for overseas patients but has recovered only £2,100. Timothy Statham, chief executive of The National Kidney Federation, said: “Capacity is at breaking point,” he said. “We have very ill British] patients needing to dialyse through the night because there is not sufficient capacity. Some patients may come from abroad because dialysis was not available in their country. We seem to be offering a world health service.”
