Muggings warning from Brentford Police

From the Richmond and Twickenham TimesBy Faye DuxberryCommentFollowing a series of muggings, police have warned people to be more wary of strangers and keep valuables out of sight.Brentford Police are appealing for witnesses after an 11-year-old girl was attacked by teenagers trying to steal her mobile phone.The young girl from Brentford had been travelling on the 237 bus from Hounslow bus garage at around 11.20am on Thursday, January 11.Advertisement     continued...She was sitting at the front of the top deck of the bus when she noticed the suspects sitting towards the back and talking in a foreign language. The girl was followed as she got off the bus in London Road, just after the junction with Twickenham Road, and was approached from behind by one of the group.One of the suspects spoke to the victim in a foreign language and then tried to grab her mobile phone, but the victim refused and told her to go away.The suspect was described as a black or Asian girl with light-coloured skin, aged around 14, 4ft 10 in tall with curly dark brown hair. She was wearing light-coloured trousers.The female suspect then grabbed the victim by her left arm and one of the boys in the group kicked the back of her leg and pinched her. The second suspect was described as a black or Asian male of about 14 years old, 4ft 11in tall and wearing a black hooded top.The attackers were unable to steal the phone because it was attached by a cord around her neck. They were last seen heading into Maple Grove at the top of the Trees estate.Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
