Hope this helps Vanessa?Dear Sir/Madam,ST JOHN’S ROAD BRIDGE RECONSTRUCTION, ISLEWORTH : ROAD CLOSURE AND TEMPORARY TRAFFIC DIVERSIONIn May 2006,the Council wrote to all local residents regarding the work programme forSt Johns Road bridge reconstruction and associated traffic management. The council would like to update you with the current situation and future programme of the above work. It is almost six months into the contract period and all utility diversions have now been completed. This work is considered as the phase one of the project and was carried out by different sub-contractors appointed by the utility companies. At the commencement of the project it was programmed to complete all utility diversion works within a period of eight weeks, but unfortunately it took twenty weeks to complete the works. This was due to various unforeseen circumstances and difficulties experienced by the utility companies and their contractors. These delays were beyond the control of the Council.Although the Council had  requested the utility companies to expedite the work, none of them, including Thames Water & Transco was prepared to take any risks with respect to works required to move a very old strategic water main and an old 33 inch gas main running through the bridge. . All this meant was that there has been substantial delay in completing the necessary  diversionary work. As a result of this we now need to extend the road closure and traffic management system until the end of April 2007.The Council apologise for the inconvenience caused as a result of this extension of road closure, and appreciates your continued co-operation while these essential bridge reconstruction works are being carried out.If you require any further information please contact Raihan Ahmed on  020 8583 5025 or 0208 587 1457 Yours faithfully,Tissa LiyanageInfrastructure Manager
