Scabby old fivers...

I know it's an anoraks at 10 paces question,but why is every fiver I've clutched in my mitts for the past couple of years been grubby and knackered?If 'they' are trying to get rid of them,'they're' taking a bloody long time doing it.I haven't seen a new one for yonks.

Mainly because few cashpoint machines now issue fivers - so unless you ask for them specifically at the counter, new ones do not get into circulation.

Keith, my bank said they could not get hold of new money!  It is apparently pot luck if they have any delivered - but I found that LLoyds TSB in Kingston has one machine which dishes out new £5 notes, so maybe other branches have similar machines?I had to ask for £15 to get three crisp new notes and after a few transactions (it may have been 5) the machine closed down my cash access for the day, in case I had stolen the card.  I think you can still obtain cash from the cashier in the bank or cash back in a shop for the rest of the day.The new notes are well worth having.

KeithI haven't even seen a bleedin' old one either. No sooner than I get it, that lovely Gordon Brown has it out of my hand before the ink is dry.But someone has got to fund all the little perks that he and others not a million miles from here, award themselves I suppose. AHHHHHHHHH well, I am going off now to have my bowl of gruel!!
