Not altogether surprised Jim - it has really gone to the dogs since the Dimblebeys sold out. It really isn't local anymore - how often do you see a letter that's not from Barnes, Hampton, Sheen or Mortlake? Even so it is terrible news as I think a good local paper still has a part to play, over the many years I've read and dealt with them I can only think of a couple of reporters who had any clue as to what went on and who understood the workings of local issues and the politics involved. The rest just seem content either to use a bit of creativity or take things at face value, lazy journalism I thought. There never seemed to be any attempt at researching a story or getting to know local people, mind you given the money most trainees on a local get paid it might be understandable. The Chronic. has been getting very thin of late too, what a great pity that this is happening.
