Hello,I live in Aylett Road, couldn't make it to the meeting last Monday but went along to the exhibition in St John's Centre a few weeks back.Because my street is outside the proposed zone the residents in the street were not informed directly about it. The first thing I noticed was a poster on a street lamp near the shops on St Johns Rd. At the exhibition, one of the council reps said that they do not inform people who live outside the zone, even though he agreed we would be directly affected by it as more car owners would want to park in out street to avoid the meter bays in the zone. Feedback from residents just outside the proposed zone would not be taken into consideration initially, and they would only consult residents outside the zone (we would be obliged to say Yes, just to guarantee having a parking space in the street, as I imagine two-car families as well as shoppers who want to avoid paying a second charge would park their cars just outside the zone) if it was given the go-ahead.All-in-all a bit of a mess. I've written to the council expressing my strong views their plan is wrong but i doubt it will affect their decision for the reason mentioned above.I also asked if the scheme was self funding. I don't know how much a traffice warden earns, but for £18k three hundred homes would have to pay £60 just to pay him/her. How many homes are there in the zone?Any thoughts?Mike Jefferies
