LOCAL DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK - Consultation details update 

This may well be of interest to folk.  A key opportunity to influence planning decisions in the years to come....Following the introduction of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, Hounslow Council has made progress in the delivery of its Local Development Framework (LDF). The LDF will comprise of a series of Local Development Documents (LDDs) which will replace the existing Unitary Development Plan, and provide the basis for spatial planning in the Borough.The timetable for the production of the LDF and further detail about the documents the Council is producing is set out in the Local Development Scheme. The Statement of Community Involvement, the first Local Development Document, was adopted by the Council in September 2006, following two stages of consultation. The Brentford Area Action Plan and Employment Development Plan have both been through two stages of consultation and are expected to be submitted to the Secretary of State in June 2007, with Examinations at the end of 2007 or beginning of 2008.The Council is now starting work on its Core Strategy, with the first stage of consultation (Issues and Options) to take place in May 2007. The Local Development Framework (LDF) Core Strategy will replace the Unitary Development Plan (UDP) as the overarching framework for planning in Hounslow.It may for example set out new density and environmental standards that could influence a development such South side of Brentford High Street.  The more crucial document though for the High Street will be the Brentford Area Action Plan (essentially a sub-section of the LDF core strategy) which will be out in a matter of weeks.The High Street Community Vision report (documenting the outputs from the past month of workshops) will also be a crucial reference point for developers as it will go into a level of detail that the Brentford Area Action Plan does not.  The draft of this document should be out for review in the next two weeks.Hope that answers the question....  let me know if I can clarify further.Andrew

Thanks Andrew. I was sent an email on this as well and I've signed up to be kept informed.Will this help improve the progress and quality of the Brentford High Street development? Is it any indication that things are moving to some satisfactory conclusion? Or is it just revised process?Duncan
