Street rubbish/waste bins - who to contact?

At the corner of Glenhurst Road and Windmill Road, behind the memorial bench which has recently been installed, there is a pile of rubbish consisting of those barriers used when there pavement is being dug up. Does anyone know who I might contact to see if they are being collected, and who is responsible for disposing of/collecting them? They are beginning to act as a magnet for other rubbish, and the grass is literally growing over them.The bench is lovely by the way, and I don't mean to tarnish it by association.I also was interested in requesting placement of a couple of extra bins in the area - chiefly, the E2 bus stop across from the new TVU dorms (where the cigarette ends are nearly ankle deep), and a dog waste bin by the footbridge in Layton Road (or somewhere nearby). I'll send an email to the council, but there must be someone specific I can ring in case the email isn't successful...?

Thanks Matt, but not to worry and after all not the end of the world!I should explain the situation. It's usually late and dark when the dog and I nip out for that last walk of the day. If we find ourselves far from a dog waste bin when, er, in need of one, it doesn't always feel safe to carry on walking around, especially when it involves that sort of underpass under Lambert Lodge to get out to the bins in Windmill Road. And let's face it, it's not the sort of thing you can just bring home and dispose of in the morning! Hopefully someone will see my point and reward us with a bin.It is quite irritating though that my email enquiries haven't even been acknowledged.

Hi Matt - although not in this area, i am trying to find who is responsible for removing dog waste bins in ivybridge dog park. Do you know who i should contact to get them replaced. cheers.

Since the original post by my mum in April, I've followed this up by email both to streetcare@hounslow.gov.uk and animalwarden@hounslow.gov.uk, and have tried ringing the number David Palmer kindly provided. I received no reply to any of my emails and I waited in a queue on the phone for so long that I eventually had to put the phone down before I spoke to anyone. The end result is that despite the support from Matt and David, nothing has happened - no bins. I'll persevere... but I'm also open to suggestions.

Have used the www.neighbourhoodfixit.com to complain about rubbish which has been very successful.

Hello Fran.Personally, I don't think you've anything at all to apologise for. The bench is a lovely addition to the neighbourhood, and you have my sympathies for your loss. I am sorry that you felt responsible for the negligence of the contractors. They should be apologising to you. Thanks for the contact details.
