Cautionary tale

A neighbour of ours was burgled this week by 4 men masquerading as C.I.D. Officers investigating a reported burglary! We only found out this morning that they told her that we had reported seeing a break-in! Which was why she let them in. Two kept her occupied while the others "investigated" and robbed her. Apparently they have been seen by a few people in the local area are young men with Irish accents, please be aware and always ask for I.D. or check with the local Police before letting anyone in.

The b*ggers are getting pretty good at tapping into neighbourly instincts.  One story I heard was Thames Water were doing work at the end of the road - so they called by to say they were from Thames Water and needed to check some stopcocks, again it was somebody living on their own and caught off guard.  :-(

Thanks for the tip off Vanessa.As mentioned on the Chiswick Forum recently, are local residents being notified of these happenings still via the Police RINGMASTER SCHEME.I haven't had a recorded phone call or e-mail in ages from the Police Authorities. Has anyone else?
