Thanks Joan for your concern!  Yes I'm back in town..and have already achieved one feat....I've fully unpacked my suitcase!! That make a change! It came as a surprise that in just a few days away from Hounslow's air pollution and noise pollution ...one could refresh one's lungs and well-being so easily. My body seemed in good form whilst there! This was a trip organised by the local Round Table (Hounslow and Feltham)...who were meeting up with their twinned Table Clubs from France(Antibes) and South Africa (Port Alfred) at a reunion in Germany (Bad Kreuznach). These annual international meet ups are special!(Do a Google search on those places ..perhaps!)The struggle was the hectic packing to get to Heathrow at 7am.. 2 hours before the flight..so that security procedures can be carried out. I don't mind having to take my shoes off..but am disappointed that no shoe-horns are provided to put them on again!!The Lufthansa aeroplane to Frankfurt was huge..it was what I'd call an Airliner.  Very large and long inside!(Use you mouse ..right click and then "zoom in" if you wish.I now keep my pictures on Flickr..and there is more flexibility it seems)----------------------------------------------------------As I hadn't been to bed the night before..I slept all the way to Germany..and the flight seemed so short!--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------There were just 4 in our small group..as everyone was making their own way by all sorts of methods. We were welcomed by a Germany round-tabler and invited into his super duper Audi car..for a journey of 100 miles to...we didn't really know(!).  Soon we found ourselves on an Autobahn and I kid you not that we were soon driving at over 100 mph in the fast lane..passing cars ,vans and lorries in the other lanes. My concern grew as the speed increased to 130mph and I cradled my head in fear in the rear seat!!  I really was frightened and complained to my colleague in the front seat..but he was enjoying it! Apparently, whilst I had my eyes closed and my face cover by my hands..I was told the next day that the speeds reached 230kph and 260kph and some german drivers considered those speeds quite ok!!I knew that at the end of the journey I would leave the car a semi-wreck!! But guess where we were taken for a surprise visit ..that Friday afternoon....an F1 Car Racing track!!for a spin at even higher speeds if we wanted to!!These were the so called pits!!  Quite out of bounds normally at a major meeting..but today enthusiasts were there giving their Ferraris, Porsches ans Audis a good old burn up.  It was more impressive to watch the high speeds passing by.  (Just like Albany Park, Melbourne?)-------------------------------------------------------"Jim, shall we put your name down for the next race?"  "No thanks..I'm quite happy watching!-------------------------------------------------------We arrived at Bad Kreuznach..and I was to be hosted at the Mayor's house.
