Our New Deputy Mayoress

Convention describes the partners of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor as "Mayoress" and "Deputy Mayoress". So, on account of his wife Caroline's appointment to the Deputy Mayor position, step forward Councillor Phil Andrews, Deputy Mayoress, London Borough of Hounslow.

JohnI saw that same announcement..word for word..on the front page of this BrentfordTW8 website at about 5pm..and thought that I had missed the Annual General Meeting which normally starts at 7.30pm.It seems the this website had received a press release..but had ignored the embargoed timing.

Too true Paul.  I felt violated.As for Deputy Mayoress, it didn't help that my first task in my new role was to transport Caroline's handbag from the Council Chamber through the crowd of waiting guests and photographers and into the Mayor's parlour.But it was the aforesaid bottle of Cobra which finally did for my image.
