A bit of good news from local nhs...

I have had the misfortune to have a very sore joint on thumb right hand for a couple of months now.Though it would go away,as you do,but it hasn't so went to see Dr. Baxter(excellent GP)at Albany Practise(excellent when you can get an appt).Dr. Baxter said he'd sent referral to ot section West Mid.2 days later(today) letter/info pack from them arrives with request to phone between 1-4. Did so and have appt. tomorrow 11.30.Can't say fairer than that,imho.

VanessaYes I'm surprised that I'm always being sent to the Hospital for blood tests..but I suppose that's where the laboratories are.  It is disturbing that some of our services do seem to be overflowing..for reasons that we all know.  At least I was able to come home...unlike some people I saw being wheeled around. It was such a busy place. I didn't see a Matron wandering around!! So: blood test results awaited!! ;0(

Not sure why you were sent there Jim, my doctor gives you a central number to arrange a blood test and you have a choice of G.P practices to go to for it. The only setback is that the number can be busy but by and large it seems to work alright - although why the hell they changed it when all you did was just turn up at you own Drs. to see the Nurse who took the blood I will never know.

I had a scare on the Tuesday after the Easter Bank Holiday, I had what I thought was an MI, the paramedics who came from Richmond were the most caring people it has been my pleasure to meet. I was told by a very efficient nurse that there would be quite a wait, as there were 80 people waiting and only 2 doctors available. I could not have been treated better if I had been a private patient. Thanks West Mid. I will always be grateful

I went to the Hospital today for a Blood Test.In the past there has been a queue of about 10..and maybe a delay of 10-15 minutes.Today, I joined a queue of 60 people and had to wait over an hour.  Heaven help if I ever need treatment!It was Ealing Hospital by the way!..just up Windmill Lane..by the Iron Bridge.

No - you can't, my husband has also had excellent service and a fairly quick response for appointments to see Consultants both within the next month.
