Care: leaving front doors open ..even for a little while. Thief about!

My Osterley neighbour left his front door open TODAY an hour or so ago...to allow his interior fresh paint to dry. Some windows were open too.A smartly dressed scalleywag..passing by..decided to try his luck and wandered in..pretending to be concerned that the front door was opened.He was caught...endeaving to grab some property...and then seemingly let off.You can never be too careful these days. Beware..leaving front doors open...even if popping next door to speak to a neighbour!

It's getting really bad at the moment here.  We have a gang of Aborigines and Caucasian  on the rampage especially at night.  Car jacking, service station hold ups, well basically anything that's open at night. They are quite violent. We have been advised to drive with our car doors locked, because at traffic lights when stopped, they come out from nowhere and drag you out from your car, beat you and take your purse/wallet and mobile phones. Even taxi drivers are being robbed and bashed.  This is no longer the 'quiet' Adelaide it used to be. Our Government is very weak when setting sentencing laws. They are allowed out on bail, then they re-offend, over and over again.  Our Gaols are near to full. The Government says they can be rehabilitated. Yeah right!!  There's only one place for them

My! What a revelation that is Joan!Lock bumping...using a special key and a hammer to shake your yale lock mechanism into submission!Chubb locks must be the answer..perhaps.If this thread only serves to remind people to stay on their guard....it will have been useful.Every time I have to fiddle around locking up or unlocking my new bike..and it is a chore...I think of and curse the roaming gangs of scalleywags who are on the prowl.I will be so angry when one day it will no doubt get nicked!

http://lockbumping.org/  There are more sites on the Internet to view.It has been around for a while. This is just another obstacle we have to protect ourselves from. Although to some it may seem that I'm advertising it, but I'm not, it's to make you aware of new techniques being used.

It's very unfortunate that we feel we are the prisoners locked up in our own homes.  We have installed security roller shutters on all but 2 of the windows (bathroom and laundry-incase of fire) for security. Even in the middle of the night they are breaking in while you sleep. My son lives in the 'granny' flat out the back and he was out one night when thieves broke in and stole his electrical equipment. So now we have a monitored alarm system throughout the house, granny flat and garage. Then on the news they are showing this 'Lock Bumping' what next?We also have people pretending to be workman, requiring access into the house. I let no-one past my security locked flyscreen door.  In 1966 when we moved to Australia it was in their hottest part of the year, it was so hot in the houses everyone would sleep outdoors, even watch tv outdoors, windows and doors open. But sadly all that's changed.

Sad,but true...couple of weeks ago an old lady on my street(Hornbeam Crescent)fell for the old '3 blokes from the water board'trick and was robbed of a substantial amount of money,not to mention her future sense of security and safety.Slime sucking scum indeed.
