"Tough on crime, Tough on the causes of crime"What a joke this has turned out to be. Shootings, stabbings on our streets, 4 murders over the weekend alone. Added to this our police advised/ordered not to upset those who wish to incite murder, burn our flags on the streets and insult our sovereign with apparent impunity. My family along with millions of others fought wars under this flag, and I am fed by PC politicians and senior police officers, pussyfooting around with these morons, who are quite happy to take what we have to offer them, and yet at the same time abuse our freedoms. My question to Gordon Brown would be, "when are you going to treat the extremists, responsible for this outrageous behaviour, as the criminals that they are, and arrest and prosecute them with the full force of the law, just as you would do with errant pensioners who demonstrate or refuse to pay exorbitant Council Tax bills"? It took years to lock up Hamza and his followers, albeit at a cost of millions to the taxpayer, so perhaps someone might wake up, and get off their ar**s and possibly do something about it, but I won't be holding my breath!

LynnGood questions. Yes he was wanted in his own country.Yes, everybody, the good the bad and the down right evil can come here, and yes we will house them. Just look at the lives that the Afghan hijackers for example are leading......costing us the taxpayers untold millions in the process (apologies to the "luvvies" for bringing this up again!!!) We will ALWAYS protect/provide for people who face the death penalty in their own or any other country, the Liberal left "Liberty" would scream their heads off if we sent them back anyway. We do not even have a clue, as to who is sitting/standing next to us at a bus stop or on the underground, and would do us harm!And yes we are helping criminals/murderers to escape justice. This government does not give a thought for us the plebs, who have to pay for their keep.......As I keep on saying "we are mugs" for putting up with it. Unfortunately there is not a single party, who would change anything, so the vote will not make any difference will it?This island is inhabited by over 60 million already, but nobody has got the guts to do anything about controls of any description. Schools, Hospitals, GP services, Housing, are in crisis.......who will ultimately suffer?

But wasn't he wanted in his own country, which has the dealth penalty, hence we 'couldn't' send him back?Does that mean everybody can come here, abuse us & we will house them regardless of their crimes?And at what point do we say we will not protect people wanted in other countries (possibly even their homeland) because it has the dealth penalty?Surely we are just helping criminals to evade justice, which I think is morally wrong.

If people like Hamza are not British citizens then I think we should deport them back to their own countries, however to send them to a country where you know they will almost certainly face the death penalty to me is morally wrong. I don't think you are talking about justice - what it smacks of is revenge, and I can understand that, but where does it get us?

Vanessa"What does the death penalty do?" It gives justice to the victims family, and it additionally ensures that he/she does not kill again. Check up and see exactly how many murderers who have been released from prison at the end of their sentence and killed again, in the 50's at the last count I believe, that's 50 people who could have been saved!I did also say that there has to be absolute forensic/DNA proof before sentencing anybody to death. I'm not so sure about a civilised society, child sexual abuse, murders, muggings, the elderly beaten up, or murdered in their homes are all now a daily part of our life. As I have, said many times before there is no deterrent, and things are getting worse. I'm not too sure about this society being "enlightened" either!

The U.S.A. are pretty free with their executions - I don't notice their crime rate going down, so clearly it is not and never will be a deterrent, people commit crimes thinking they will get away with them. What does the death penalty do? It cannot change what has happened, it cannot bring people back or undo any crime. Given the unseemly rush sometimes to get the person responsible we find unsafe convictions are the result - not a lot of good if you've been subjected to the death penalty. It is brutal and barbaric and I for one am very pleased we live in such a civilised and enlightened society.

Vanessa"However, I think the death penalty is abhorrent"Yes, I would partly agree, but don't you think that paedophiles, who not only sexually abuse babies and children is equally as abhorrent, and should be allowed to live and breathe the same air as you and I? There are obviously many other examples. a police office who was stabbed to death recently, after being on duty for less than an hour, was also the father of a small child who has been deprived of his love and care forever, what about justice for her?......If there is overwhelming forensic and DNA evidence, and proved beyond all reasonable doubt, they meet there maker I'm afraid. The present system is not working, there were 300 paedophiles recently discovered here, during an international investigation, and one of the main organisors, who went under the name of "Son of God" was distributing material world wide from this country. If he and the other vermin were to be sentenced to death, I'll be the first to volunteer to pull the lever, that is if I have'nt been murdered in my bed beforehand, by one of the scroats who were let out of prison on early release!Murder in this country is now also becoming an everyday occurrence, (4 in one day alone) and we seem unable/unwilling to do anything about it

I think Hamza is a nasty piece of work content to ponce off us while calling us everything under the sun. However, I think the death penalty is abhorrent, and I hope we've arrested him for our reasons and not the U.S.A's.For a country that prattles on about the abortion debate and the rights of the unborn child, they seemingly don't mind killing people already here, that is something I have never managed to get my head round. I think it would be immoral to send someone to an almost certain execution.

Lynn"We can't possibly send someone to a country that has the death penalty so we had to arrest him to in order to save an embarrassing political situation"!  Whilst these idiots were demonstrating, burning the flag, inciting murder,and generally abusing this country, I don't suppose it would have entered their tiny minds for one moment, that our soldiers are dying out in Afghanistan and Iraq? We can't send Hamza and other scumbags back in case they are tortured/executed, but it is OK for our young men to be blown up, and on their return are treated as third class citizens!  Only this week a 24 year old watched his twin brother die on their birthdays' and he will have the traumatic experience of accompanying his coffin back to England for burial?In my opinion, the senior police officers, who allegedly stated that the demonstration went off without incident, are to put it mildly a bloody disgrace!

Well then,Lynn he should behave himself when he is here and not bite the hand that feeds,houses,clothes and educates his children and gives his family free health care and more than a few quid besides.He should be sent back to face the music,irrespective of death penalties or not.We are not the conscience of the world,despite what Blair would have us believe.

Don't you think Hamza was only arrested because the Americans were requesting his extradition?  We can't possibly send someone to a country that has the death penalty so we had to arrest him to in order to save an embarrassing political situation!  It is shameful!
