"It's not far, but we're K££n to get there!" - ICG sponsored walk - Saturday, 21st July 2007

STATEMENT:MEMBERS of the Independent Community Group (ICG), including councillors, will be undertaking a nine-mile sponsored walk from Brentford to the Houses of Parliament on Saturday, 21st July to raise funds for charity. Under the theme "It's not far, but we're K££n to get there", several members will make the short journey along the Chiswick High Road and through West London. The walk was announced at the recent Borough Council meeting, and members and councillors from other political groups have been invited either to participate or to sponsor those who are walking. Half of the money raised will be donated to the Mayor's charities, and the other half will be presented to Brentford & Isleworth MP Ann Keen at one of her many surgeries to be handed to Make Poverty History, for whom she has campaigned, or to any other registered charity or charities of her choice. ICG Organiser Councillor Phil Andrews commented:  "Nine miles is not very far and nobody should require an overnight stopover.  However, we are keen to complete the walk and to raise as much as we can for good causes." Anybody who wishes to take part, or to sponsor the walkers, should contact the ICG at icg@communitygroup.org.uk with their details, or leave a message on the 24-hour answerphone on 020 8891 6359.  Cheques made out to "ICG" should be marked "ICG sponsored walk" on the rear and posted to: ICG, P.O. Box 218, Isleworth, TW7 7SA.
