Brentford Festival 2007 Sunday 2nd September 2007

Thanks to Heidelberg in Brentford and Ruth Rolleson (Marmalade), graphic designer also of Brentford we have 15,000 excellent quality A5 flyers to deliver throughout the borough to remind people that there will, again be a Brentford Festival in Boston Manor Park. Can you help by delivering to the houses/flats in your area?I have boxes and boxes of leaflets at the Pavilion Cafe in Boston Manor Park which is open from 9 - 4 Saturday's and Sundays's if you are able to collect or, if you do not have a car then I just need your address with details of how many you need and what streets you are going to deliver to and I will drop them off when I can.With the help of young offenders and their supervisors, Luke Kirton and his team and Gordon who dropped in for a coffee we have managed to distribute 1000 today!!!!! I was delighted to return from my hols on Thursday to see the pictures and comments re the festival.  All your comments and pictures will be conveyed to the festival committee (in case they have not been following the excellent threads) who will be meeting for a summing up of the day on Monday 10th.  Many, many people did their bit to help publicise the day and make it all happen.  From reports I received abroad - many more people are needed for next year to spread the load on the day.  If you can book yourself in for some hours I would love to hear from you.  Thanks again to all.  linda.massey@virgin.net

Don't put it past me to have climbed the scaffolding, but Jim was right first time, the photo was taken from the Manor House 1st floor window.There are some marvellous pictures of both Brent and Thames inside the house, - including one of Bradshaw's yard.

It was a great day out and there were many more people enjoying the Festival this year, so well done to the organisers who worked hard on the publicity campaign. The Festival seems to be getting bigger and better each year and the Friends of Boston Manor and the Festival Committee deserve praise for coordinating such a well organised and friendly event. A really good atmosphere and the park looked great with some beautifully maintained borders and flower beds. Boston Manor Park really is a hidden gem.  Thanks to all for a great day.Catherinethe green trading company

Nigel,Thanks for your pictures. They convey much of the flavour of the event. The picture of the crowd on the front lawn is special..and must have been taken from the first floor window of the House..unless you climbed up the scaffolding!Those organisers over the years have really created a big regular crowd-pulling event..and everyone one speaks to say they will be returning next year.I reckon there must have been some 5000 and more people there. At one stage it was just packed ..with a sea of people flowing down the pathway in front of the cafe.Lot's of people from Ealing attend too..but "good ole Brentford" !!

A superb day as you say Jim.  Well done with all your butlering in the House and at the Community Cafe!Also a big thank you to all the members of the Brentford Festival Committee who worked so hard this year on logistics, music, stallholder liaison, recycling etc.  A huge amount of work, but so worthwhile when it all came together today.best wishes, Andrew

Well it was a massive day..and there were crowds galore..and thankfully the weather stayed friendly!At it's peak, pathways were jammed packed and it was as much as I could do to wash the dishes and empty the bins at the cafe fast enough!!  The Mayors of Hounslow and Ealing opened proceedings apparently from the stage..and then attended a reception in a drawing room in Boston Manor House with various dignatories, Councillors and historians. I was the butler delivering the tray of mineral water from the cafe so I managed to gatecrash that party!I saw Matt Hamer,Andrew Dakers and Ruth Cadbury at different times. There were stalls and displays galore..and if you needed to network local organisations..today was the day to do it.Lots of children, lots of older folks, lots of people who perhaps don't manage to get out very often...it was a full house.Stallholders I spoke to said it was record numbers this year..and that there appearance next year was a certainty.Well done to all the organisers and volunteers. My camera is  on the blink at present so hopefully others will have some photos. Any reports from other visitors who perhaps were able to tour around?

I am one of the organisers, and in my experience the Chiswick web site can be incredibly snotty about things going on in Brentford. However both Brentford and Chiswick are in the borough of Hounslow, and CIP (Hounslow subsidary) are supporting the event.  Perhaps you could start a thread for me, and I will follow it through.The Brentford Festival promises to be a good day out tomorrow, and it looks like the weather is going to fine as well.

there is no mention of this on the chiswickw4 website. the has probably been lots of advertising done but this is the only place i have seen it. could one of the organisers maybe do a thread about it on the brentfordtw8 website.

I wonder if the six Brentford Councillors and their assistants will be having a table or tent to meet the locals.  They could couldn't they...do one hour stints or something like that.I remember the stall in previous years.How about a TW8 website stall as well...publicising this cyberspace facility?  Could be a useful meeting point!!
