New Cameras on A4

Hi everyone, There are new cameras on the A4 (sited above the current camera outside PC World).  They are a group of about 5 cameras on both sides - does anyone know what they are for pls? Thanks in advance

Yes, they are automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras - I believe they are part of the Low Emission Zone scheme, which aims to improve London’s air quality by deterring the most polluting vehicles (older lorries and buses etc ) from driving into or within greater London.See http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/projectsandschemes/environment/2021.aspx

These I believe are number plate recognition cameras. They run your registration number through about 24 separate database in under half a second. They will check for insurance, tax, known criminals etc. They will be there to keep tabs on who is leaving and entering London
