Most expensive bitter in Brentford

Is it the £2.97 for a pint of Pride at the Brewery Tap?

2.90 for pride in the Griffin. How long before it breaks the 3.00 pound mark.I've only been in the Albany a couple of times, I had my worst pint of beer in that pub.

I agree - the Tap has character and excellent beer, it's often crowded but still usually friendly, and even if it IS the most expensive (which I doubt, when the Weir's in town) it's only by pennies. I paid £2.90 a pint for Pride in the Griffin last week - mind you, that was absolutely superb beer as well.

"Did someone suggest that The Albany was rough?Looks pretty from the outside!!"The Albany was due to re-open yesterday (Aug 2nd) after a refurbishment. We might drop in there this evening to see what it's like now - and whether they've got cask beer back in at last.

Is the cask bitter in the Town Wharf any good now, though? I've never had a pint in there that was better than "OKish" - which is probably why I haven't been in there for a while.

Actually I did! Must say it was cheaper than buying drinks the previous night at a watering hole in Chiswick

I went to the Brewery tap for the first time on saturday night.Me & my man were made to feel very welcome and I loved the place.It has character - which most Weatherspoons and their like lack.And where else is there a piano in the bar which is used for sing-alongs?

NeilYes I do go to the Brewery Tap from time to time..to see and hear the jazz.After ordering crisps and nuts with my pint I've no idea how much the London Pride has cost!

To come back to the original point - the price of beer - Wetherspoons etc charge half the price of other outlets and still make a profit, clearly massive mark ups are being made and I object to this rank profiteering.Dodgy clientele is not the sole preserve of the value for money pubs - ever been to the Beehive?KenWetherspoons being a national chain can get massive discounts from breweries, even small micros. A true freehouse such as the magpie will always struggle to get cheap beer unless they always sell the same beer. Then they aren't a freehouse anymore. They alsoi have to pay higher rent ect as they arn't taking beet from the owners suggested portfolio.

please god no...i worked two doors down from the weatherspoons in wandsworth. there used to be a queue before opening time outside the plce of people you would have seen thirty mins to an hour earlier queing at the post office..not saying it would go that way in brentford, but i love my local.

Having only lived here for 6 months I would say Brentford has two great locals in the Magpie and O'Briens, and I'll say one thing for the Brewery Tap, it has a great jazz night.  But I would grudgingly agree with whoever suggested a Lloyds or 'spoons might be good for the area.  I'm no fan either but it would be a start towards mixing local folks with the residents of the new builds. I'm sure they could get space in Ferry Quays or similar...?

Well said JerryOne of the things I really miss is having a "local". That one thing Brentford has a number of, even though some may be a bit ropey.

People,We may be missing the point here. At least the vast majority of pubs in brentford are proper ones with real people in them and genuine atmosphere. Go to Ealing or Chiswick and pay £4.20 for Hoegarden (excuse the spelling), then try and find a dartboard or a jukebox. Like so many things in life, we take the good stuff for granted until it's gone....Enjoy your beer and good company folks,Jerry

When I come over I tend to go to the Magpie but I do like to venture into the Tap because the beeer is so good.Had a few chats with the landlord about beer, he seems ok and bumped into a person who frequents this site in the pub last time. I also think Jim pops in from time to time,

The Brewery Tap is widely known in the parish as an unfriendly,clique-ridden and unwelcoming pub if you are not a regular.The Weir also has a bad rep.amongst many.

That's the point. You get the custom you're charging for. In Brentford where there are so many pubs, there's a basic way to prevent certain clientele and that's to keep the prices a little higher.

At 16% higher than a pint pf Pride in a Chiswick Fuller's pub, he is very welcome to his custom.

There is a reason some pubs keep their prices higher than the norm. Would you want to drink in the Bricklayers or Albany?

Oh for a Wetherspoons in Brentford please. The beer may not be the best but at least it is realistically priced and forces the others to reconsider their cartel prices.

Always thought the Tap to be expensive, but he does serve an excellent pint.I would have thought the Weir would be more expensive though.
