Thanks Neil. I found the following article (Nov 2006) on the Hounslow Council website about the interpretative panels. They will be useful in covering up some of the boarded up town centre!"A grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) is enabling the Battlefields Trust to create trails across the Civil War battlefields of Brentford and Turnham Green, improving our understanding of the borough’s role in one of the most significant events in British history. The project will mean the installation of information boards at Brentford and Turnham Green explaining the battles and their significance in the Civil War. The Battlefields Trust will also use the grant to provide public talks on the battles, and to produce leaflets which will be freely available in local libraries and museums. The Brentford and Chiswick Local History Society, Hounslow Heritage Guides, The Duke of Northumberland and Syon Park Estate and the John Hampden Society are all participating in the project.“The battles involve the movement of tens of thousands of men intent on deciding the fate of the Kingdom,” says Simon Marsh of the Battlefields Trust.'It is important to celebrate this history, because it determined the future course of the war, and ultimately the development of parliamentary democracy in Britain. 'In comprehending the battles, you need to understand the landscape over which it was fought and the nature of the people who lived and fought there. 'The new trails will do this and raise the profile of the battles greatly.'"
