Junction roadworks at McDonalds

Does anyone know what is going on with the roadworks at McDonalds and how long it is going on for?

I walked past the roadworks yesterday and they have dug a long trench. Not sure if that constitutes a cycle lane.I think some bus lanes are acceptable but we live in a world now where the motorist is at the bottom of the pecking order and that bus lanes will continue to appear.It does not matter if they cause a car traffic jam as long as the buses get through.

I'm not entirely sure what the roadworks at the 'McDonalds' junction are for, whether it's for some Thames Water work I received a maildrop about the other day or part of preparatory works for yet another bus lane scheme (the story apparantly goes that the plan is to take away part of Watermans Park to accommodate a cycle lane & a bus lane I believe).I know a certain someone will read chapter & verse from some traffic engineers publication to justify the need for bus lanes but to me as a bus user, cyclist & car user my firm opinion is that they are a complete farce & fail to serve any purpose over short distances apart from resulting in unacceptable road conditions for car users, which simply isn't reasonable.

Aren't you just sick and tired of all the  "@*%& roadworks that go on in the parish?It must be the road work capital of the universe.As soon as one lot stop,another lot start.The fiasco that is the road widening scheme by Petsmart has taken so long it is unreal.I know we have had a lot of rain but when you drive past about 20% of the blokes seem to be working.

What actually are they doing there?Getting to and from Chiswick to work is a pain.  The un-needed bus lane on London Road is still not finished, I cannot understand why this has taken so long to do.So to irritate commuters even more, the work at McDonalds junction has been started.  Why don't Hounslow Council co-ordinate this?  At least finish one thing before starting another? I'm getting totally fed up with the mess that is the roads and pavements in Hounslow borough.  I have emailed several times asking about the pavements on Chiswick High Road and still no definitive answer.As a resident and business rates payer in LBH I am seriously thinking of moving myself and the business somewhere else.

You could be right about the traffic lights. The trouble is these days there are so many restrictions in place that it hampers the traffic. Things like the bus lane between Green Dragon Lane and Kew Bridge. If they got rid of that more traffic could turn left and get into lane earlier. Travelling from Brentford to Chiswick is a nightmare

One of those small roundabouts could do the trick in that junction. I too noticed things went more smooth when the lights were off.

The other day (week day) the lights were out completely and I've never seen the traffic run so smoothly - no congestion at all.Now they've put in temporary traffic lights and the queue is constant from the Ealing Road back to the Steam Museum.Did anybody get hurt when the lights weren't working? Did we suffer a 15 car pile up at the intersection when the lights weren't working? No, but just in case we'd better mamby-pamby the locals because they don't know how to drive through an intersection without lights working.Extra 30 minutes if you on a bus coming to Brentford from Kew Bridge end I warn you now.
