Mobile Phones on Buses

Is anyone else fed up with getting on a Bus and having to sit there all threw your journey listen to total rubbish music playing from some young persons mobile?Nearly every time i get on a bus someone is sat on it playing there music out of their mobile so the rest of us can hear it, by the time you get to your destination its a pleasure to get off the bus.I honestly believe Bus Companies should ban mobile phone music on the Buses why should the rest of us have to suffer?

A bit old fashioned but they should bring back conductors. A bus driver is not officially allowed to leave their cockpit so even if there were signs there is nobody to enforce it. Trains have similar signs for their 'quiet zone' carriages and I have seen the conductors tell people to get off their phones or move quite a few times but a sticker is not going to help on a bus. I'm baffled anyway by this. The type of phones that play music come with headphones so why don't they just plug them in and listen privately? Is it a yet another sign of youngsters being raised without being taught the basics in respect or is it just a sign of getting old that we're bothered by this?

I saw a report on the news only a few days ago about a couple who had been campagning about asking people to turn down their mobiles/music?  I'm sure there are new posters that are going to be put on buses to that effect...big deal!

The very few times I have used the H20 I have been terrified - the drivers are like Lewis Hamilton on speed! The worst thing that was ever done was to privatise bus services, in the days of the London Transport Executive drivers were watched to see they were up to standard-that they were properly dressed- and that they ran on time, now it seems if you have a pulse you're in.

I totally agree...sitting on a bus where people are talking or children crying don't bother me as this is a common thing in life BUT why should we have to sit on a bus with music coming out of a mobile phone which some of these songs these kids listen to are mostly swear words?The other thing that annoys me is when Bus Drivers have their friends on the bus standing next to them chatting to them as they drive.If you look at the sign on the back of the drivers cabin it state "No talking or distracting the driver whilst bus is in motion"But some drivers don't care about the rules or safety of there passengers it happens alot on the H20 service.

I think you are missing the point, ordinary, everyday irritations are one thing - but it has to be said some people have no regard for the comfort and safety of others. For instance driving whilst having a mobile clutched to your lughole - stupid, dangerous and irresponsible,not to mention illegal - but who's enforcing it? And do we all really want to listen to the minutiae of someone's social life or shopping list? Personal stereos should be just that - personal. Instead of having the bloody thing turned up so loud everyone can hear that annoying tinny chinking. All this requires is a bit of consideration for others - sadly lacking in today's world unfortunately.

we ban everybody from busses then nobody would upset anybody... OR we could just understand that everybody proberly irritates somebody in someway .. so why dont we just cur every body a bit of slack before we end up in a judge dred state !!!

I agree with you Simon - not only is this behaviour selfish and antisocial but it is also quite intimidatory. Would you risk your life by telling someone (often in a group) to turn their music off?TfL have so far agreed to put signs in buses telling people not to play music out loud. However I don't think this goes far enough - there needs to be clear penalties in place to deter potential "DJs". Why Cant Driver tell them to switch them off or Boot them of the Bus?We pay to travel on these buses they get free travel.Ive seen several drivers on Mobiles this week, maybe the police could offer rewards to people with camera phones to take a photo of a driver on a mobile!!

Not to mention cars driving on orange light just to end up blocking the whole junction in all directions, people closing bus windows even though the whole bus is hot and full of damp, people dropping gum on the streets, bikers going on red (I've seen 3 been hit by car/bus in the last year. Nothing serious, but could have been fatal).I'm sure the list could go on.All of London's 18+ population hates teenage music on the bus I think :)

Agreed..some other things that really bug me:Very loud music from cars(as if anyone else is going to be impressed and enjoy it.There is a screw loose with those who play it)Litter droppers!!!!!Kids who ride around on hairdryers that make more noise that a 747.People who swear in public places(except pubs poss.)

As someone who hasn't got a mobile and doesn't intend to get one - can I say they drive me demented. The new stringent penalties for driving while clutching said mobile to earhole is being totally ignored, two people this week in Tesco's car park were trying to manoeuvre into spaces while gassing and making a right hash of parking! I really am sick of having to listen to people holding loud, inane conversations in public.  I can see their uses for work and in emergencies and on long journeys etc. But they have turned into one of the curses of modern life and one of my pet hates.
